I realize this is way off topic (well, I suppose if you are a collector of Beatles collectibles....), but I hope you will allow me to share one of the best evenings of my life with my DIS family....
I have been waiting to see Paul McCartney since his first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show so many years ago....so you can understand my excitement after waiting for 39 years!
I used to wonder why the girls in the audience at the Beatles concerts were crying, but I have to admit, when Sir Paul walked onto the stage I got all choked up! The concert was the best...the band was great, the audience was excellent...it was a huge sing along with Paul fest! He sang mostly Beatles songs(Here, There and Everywhere (my wedding song) I Saw her Standing There, Hello Goodbye, Yesterday...21 or 22 in all), with a few Wings (Band on the Run, Jet, Live and Let Die) and newer songs (Freedom, Driving Rain) thrown into the mix. I cried again when he sang his tributes to John (If you were here today), George (Something) and Linda (My Love). There were two encores...the concert ended with "And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love...you make"....ok more waterworks, I don't think there was a dry eye in the house!
When we got to MSG, I made a beeline for the souvenirs hoping for a pin, but they didn't have any...instead I got a cool psychedelic (when was the last time you heard that word) long sleeve t-shirt!
I got home at 2 am after a long trainride home from Manhattan, but it was worth it!! I saw Sir Paul McCartney!!!
Thank you for indulging me....
