This is a little embarrasing but I really needed some advice. I wanted to get my bikini area waxed before my honeymoon and I wanted to know from anyone that has done this if 1) it is very painful 2) how long before my wedding should I get it done 3) who and where in orlando would you recommmend me going to (anyone on disney property that does this?) TIA

Since your wedding is in July get it done now and then again right before you leave that way you'll have had it done and know what to expect. For me it's quick and not very painful. Take a couple of advil or tylenol an hour before having it done. It lasts for a few weeks. Make sure you exfoliate in the shower to keep ingrown hairs from forming.

I had it done for the first time right before we left for our wedding. I was terrified! It was painful, but not as painful as getting your underarms waxed - yeowch! It lasts a couple weeks and definitely worth the pain. unfortunately i don't know of a place in orlando. sorry!

Not to hijack the thread...but hulagirl, I've been dying to tell you just how cute you are!!! You look so much like my best friend that everytime I see your sig pic, I just want want to jump through the computer and give you a big 'ol hug!

Anyway...as far as waxing goes...I had it done once and won't do it again! Sorry, I don't want to scare you but it was awful for me. It hurt like h$ll and I bled! But I really am a great big baby!! :rotfl2:

Whoa, you should definitely NOT bleed! You had a bad waxologist for sure.

I agree with the idea of doing it now, to try it out, and then do it again the week of the wedding. It will last 3-4 weeks and is so worth it. It hurts a little while it's happening, but once it is over it does not hurt at all, and plus, when the hair starts to grow in again, it does not itch the way it does after shaving.

Unfortunately, it's not easy to find great waxers here. I've lived in Orlando for the past year and have yet to find a waxologist I love...I wish I could give a good recommendation, but I'm still looking!

I have never waxed down there and never will......sounds waaaayyyy too painful for my liking....:lmao: ..may be a little tmi for you all but I just shave it myself......no pain, cheap, and lasts for a good week and a half before it starts to grow back in:cool1:

I waxed once before as well, and I haven't done it again.
It was an awful experience!!
The place where I had it done recommended I try using the sugar because
I have such sensitive skin. I tried it and it works great! There's hardly any
pain at all and definately NO irritation. If the whole waxing thing doesn't
work out, I would try the sugar. You could even try using "Nad's" (as seen on tv) That works really well too.

Thanks for all the advice....i think i will try the sugar thing...is there any place in orlando that does this?

hey thanks :goodvibes that's so nice to hear!!!

I have it done all the time. There are some times it is worse than others but the results are WONDERFUL! Try not to go right before that time of the month because you are more sensitive then. Also get them to start with the left side since it hurts more. (closer to the heart, this is what my esthetician tells me)
Anyhoo I would say do it a few days before the wedding some people are more sensitive than others. It really does last so much longer than any other method so IMO its worth it. Good Luck!

I don't normal lurk around here because I'm not getting married but saw this thread and had to post. I also suggest not getting it done when you get down to Orlando but rather before you leave. I have been getting this done for two or three years. I get a little sensitive sometimes right after it's done, like the skin is tender so I like to do it a week before my vacation.

I agree with the other posters, I would go with the sugar apposed to the wax, especially if you have sensitive skin. I have been doing Brazilian’s (waxing all hair down there!) since about 2 spring breaks ago, and it is a little tender right afterwards. I would recommend doing it right before you leave. I live in Tampa (about an hour out of Orlando) and there is a great place here that does Brazilian’s. As far as in Orlando goes, I would do a Google search and then start call places you find that is how I found out about the one that I go too.

Hope this helps!!!!

My advice on the waxing is have someone else do it. Its easy to have someone else rip off the wax than it is to motivate yourself to do it after the first rip. I personally have very sensative skin so I give myself about 5-7 days before vacation to heal. My advice to you would be to have it done before you leave. Whatever u decide I hope it goes well and isn't too painful!

ok so I haven't done that before, I wax my eyebrows and such and that hurts enough! So what's the difference between wax and the sugar??

Waxing removes the top layer of skin, whereas sugaring only removes the hair... or so they say. ;)
