DD will be taking me to a number of her favorite WDW restaurants and she is thinking about a quick stop at Wawa as it is new to the Orlando area. Being from California, we have no idea what to try there. So, do any East Coasters have any suggestions on their favorites from drinks to snacks etc??

If this is the Wawa I am thinking of they are a combination of gas station convenience stores. They aren't really restaurants.

So if you are thinking about what to get there...think 7-11..it's the same thing.

They have excellent coffee. Yep, that's about it! Lol! We are in PA and we have them everywhere. They are known for their hoagies and sandwiches. other than that its really just a convenience store like 7 eleven.

:thumbsup2 Thanks! Then coffee it is as we never frequent 7-11. All of DDs Facebook friends couldn't wait for it to open :confused3!

Maybe I'm just being hometown loyal here, but Wawa is nothing like 7-11. Yes it is a convenience store but 7-11 feels like being at a truck stop to me (at least around here). I would never buy a sandwich from 7-11, but Wawa is known for the hoagies. The only thing better at 7-11 is the Slurpee vs. the Icee at Wawa.

Granted, Wawa of today is different than the Wawa that got me through college weekends.... But I would still pick Wawa.

OP, I suggest a hoagie and a bottle of Wawa iced tea.

My DH always thinks of wawa's in a nostalgic way. He's always going on about Butterscotch flavored Tastykakes.

We don't have wawas around here or tastykakes so I can't personally comment

As the PP have stated WaWa is in no means a restaurant. It is a convenience store. Much nicer then a 7-11, but a convenience store none the less. The coffee is great, but the hoagies/sandwiches are absolutely terrible. All water and no taste at all, you know the meat I am talking about...YUCK!

The coffee is good and the stores are nice and clean though. Again, MUCH nicer then a 7-11.

Thanks everyone! So far we are set for Sanaa, Kouzzina - people either love or hate it, and the Sushi restaurant in Celebration so a quick stop for coffee, iced tea, the Tastycakes that sound yummy and maybe a hoagie just to say we tried one will be a new experience food break for us before our Fantasy week. I appreciate all of your responses! :thumbsup2

I like the soups at Wawa. The chicken corn chowder is my favorite and the lobster bisque is very good too!

I am SO EXCITED about the WaWa locations popping up down here in FL. Back home in NJ I used to go to WaWa religiously for coffee and and an occasional wrap or salad. Convenience stores down here are pretty disgusting with the exception of a few RaceTrak's, but it's just not the same.

I love their coffee, and breakfast sandwichs. Their is always a line here to get hoagies made. My DH loves them, and use to go their fairly often before we got married.

We have a lot of Wawas here in Northern Virginia. They are fine, for the most part, but I wouldn't eat there. When they first opened they were really stellar. Now when I go into them, the place just looks kind of funky where the sandwiches are made. My DD used to stop there and get sandwiches a few times a month after school. After getting sick twice, she stopped (and these were from two different establishments).

I don't know what their deal is and maybe certain local ones aren't run as well as others. I did used to buy their pints of ice cream and they were pretty good.

That's what I was thinking....not really somewhere I'd be excited about eating. Florida does have a lot of transplants from the northeast though, so maybe they're just excited about something familiar?

They might not sell Tastykakes in a Wawa in Florida.

You can order Tastykakes online (people have them sent to my Mom sometimes). If you ordered some Butterscotch Krimpets for your DH, I'm sure he'd be thrilled. I'm a Kandy Kake fan personally.

Being from the epicenter of WaWa..

I only eat there if other hoagie places aren't open.

The coffee is good, as others have said.

If they have tasty cakes, that's not surprising, as the brand is expanding (they were sold in Nashville when I was there over the summer.)

Their mac and cheese is always a late night (and maybe drunken..) indulgence.

My teen boys love WaWa, well my 28 yo ds loves WaWa too. I like the soups and the wraps and my dd's agree! We have to hit a WaWa everytime we go home to NoVa. Not a trip without a hoagie in the cooler for ds's :confused3

The good news is that they are pretty cheap subs. I think 5.99.

WaWa's is an institution for some people...:rotfl:

Leaving Disney to go to Wawa would be like leaving Disney to go to Subway (er, well, maybe even 7-11). DON'T DO IT! Waste of your time. It is NO In and Out Burger... now THAT might be worth the trip. :rotfl2:

I had checked the menu but hadn't seen the soup selection. They all sound pretty good!

DD has lived in Orlando for two years now and we try to have new experiences whenever we visit - shopping at Publix and Winn-Dixie and eating Blue Bell Ice cream were our adventures in April!

I love their coffee, and breakfast sandwichs.
Another vote for coffee - will try it for sure.

Our goal is not to get food poisoning prior to the cruise; on that note, DD had her worst case of food poisoning on our last night of a WDW trip where we ate on WDW property for all meals :( Sadly, it can happen anywhere...

In and Out is an institution for DD - it's her fave restaurant; when she has flown back to Cali, we had to drive from the airport directly to the closest In and Out :rotfl:!

Thanks for all these comments! We will work Wawa into our "Girls' Trip" adventures as I know we will be out and about in all areas of Orlando!

I've never heard of it.....I thought it was a short way of saying Walmart LOL. Maybe we'll have to swing in to a WaWa and see what they offer.

Coffee! They also have great little snack packs that my kids love, it has cheese, grapes, apples and some kind of raisin bread. You can't go wrong with any of their hoagies or soups either.

LOL I am not being mean but I thought this was a joke! Personally I would never eat in a Wawa or other convienence store. However, have a great time and good luck!
