Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. West hartford will rebuild (but it will be years) It's been a VERY long few days not even 72 hours out .
I'm sorry if this sounds scattered.

my family of course no damage but my village looks alot like those you've seen on TV. Our town manager was there for the bulk of the day and things are coming along. I'm sure that the store is going to be done for it's reportedly off it's foundation, library while on it's I think is beyond repair. Many houses?? we are waiting on the fire marshal for their assement. adjusters for the town and Library disater will be intoday need to get home for that. at best guess we have lost 75% of our collection. this library was given by Hartford and Waterbury ct after the flood of 27 took the library downstream

we have power but no phones and internet.

so send prayers and lots of them for no rain my town and state need lots of Love and support right now.
Thank you my friends

Prayers and Pixie Dust for all those affected by the last storm!!

Hey Christy, glad to have you report in...

I think I have some books I have saved in the attic.. wonder if we could donate them to you as soon as you know for sure what is going on?? If we can do this, I'll talk to my mom and her friends too!!! :) Heck, the library here is always selling books.. I can always go purchase some there to donate...

Glad you and your family are fine..but so sorry to hear about the village... Please keep us posted and know you and your village are in our thoughts.

Christy, we are so happy you and your family are okay....sorry about your village, sounds like they are on the road to rebuilding though, will keep your community in our prayers.

I'd be happy to help with the library rebuilding their book collection too!
stay safe and let us know if there's anything we can do to help out!!

Christy Keep us posted. I would be more then willing to host a book collection for your town library, I might even be able to get our town library involved.

Have RV, will travel! Mobile Library Re-Con Team Alpha!!

I too would be happy to help your library restock their books. Glad to hear you and your family are safe and will keep your village and the many others in VT in our prayers.

Will keep Vermont in our prayers. Happy to hear that your family is safe and that the village is planning to rebuild. I'd love to help the library restock their shelves too! Let us know how we can help.

Sending prayers your way!

I mentioned the library to my mom(she is an author) and she was saying she was going to check with at least one of the groups she is in and see about having them hold drawings for packages of books for libraries that were destroyed by Irene and the flooding. If they decide to do something I will make sure your town library gets entered.

Rebecca

thoughts and prayers for you and your community!

- Hey Christy - so happy to see your post!! Was happy to get your messages out to everyone - and it was wonderful talking to you. Told the ladies that you have the most supportive village there - eveyone looks out for everyone - even stranded hikers!!!

Your generosity opening your home to everyone in need was amazing but not surprising. You and your family are wonderful. If there is anything we can do, I love the idea of a DIS book drive, please let us know.

Our tabernacle here on the Cape donates their books at the end of the season, could your library use those?

I have two boxes of books and there can be way more. Will deliver personally this winter or as soon as there is a place for them and roads to get there.

told Megan about the book drive and she's happy to make some donations out of her stash too....and with Book fair's in the fall I'm sure we can get a nice start to replenish the library!

Thank you all!!!! I'm so blurey eyed hopefully this makes sense I did see the book drive thread and haven't read it yet (next on the plan) If anyone told me where I'd be right now I'd have told you they are crazy. I'll do this in bullet form as it's eaier not to form sentences right now

building is sound according to 1 enginer still waiting on the town one
fountation guy and what little work has been told to us is noted
basement is 3/4 cleaned out
then the distruction of wallboard (YUCK) and mold spraying to commence
temp power into the upstairs in on
top floor need to asses the 8" of board that got wet and what is behind them
books are on shelves in mom's garage and we are cataloging them now.
we lost 75 % of out collection but no place to put any new right off the bat.
governer was in the building to day
mannny reporters and lots of help from other instate librarys had 2 libraries actually show up today (all talk no worK????)
brain is totally on overload and I need to knock myself out for a night.

village is looking worse as everything is hauled out of the homes. Road are temp in place and services are restored to those that can be.

I'm typing from moms and headed home soon. Thank you for your prayers

Christy, good that things are getting taken care of, at least the government is showing up!

hope you get a good night's sleep, take care of yourself and your guys!

I'm glad to hear you & your family is alright. just remember that most things can be replaced, lives can't. As you can tell there are several around here that are more than willing to help with the replacement.

is there anything that you are really needing at this moment??

At this moment nothing other than adult volunteers. ours are getting very tired., but are still showing up everyday. and NO rain

but we are getting there it's been a LONG week and I need some down time but don't see that happening anytime soon

so just keep praying

wish I could come and help out....let us know if there is anything else the village is in need of!
I'm sure its hard, but don't wear yourself out, need to get some rest!
prayers are continuing :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Thanks Lisa. So far we are getting in tons of needed stuff other than a bull horn for getting the word out ( my voice and the other "coridinators" voice are TIRED) our town has done great getting what we need.

the looters are going to get shot though...... police are doing everything they can but are streatched thin and tired too we only have 19 (i think) and 40 square miles to cover. It's like these slimeballs wait till they have to leave on a call and strike. But I talked with the PD this pm and they have stepped up patrols at least and will try harder not to have to use our guys as backups too issues. That's all I can ask.

I need to sleep but I'm hurting to bad to right now. Lots of unnessecary bull going on and so I'm talking myself into walking away from those who should be rallying behind me but are attacking me. I will eventually pass out tonight and get at least a few hours.
