Our last two trips have been to DL so I'm a bit turned around about what's what at DL and what's what at DW. When we went to DL we downloaded an app that would tell us the current wait times at any ride. Is there something similar at WDW?

Yep, you can get the My Disney Experience app (free). It's the official Disney one and is ok for accuracy.
You can also get the WDW Lines app if you want to sign up for Touringplans for 15 dollars for a yearly subscription.
