I beleive at WDW, if you stay at a Disney Resort, you can go to another resort and swim in their pool. Not that it's convenient, but it can be done.

My question is: can you pool hop at the DL resort? We were thinking PP might be in our price range, but my son loves the DLH slides. Does the keycard at PP open the gates to DLH? Or even the GCH?

That's a bummer! I just saw some pricing on the Courtyard and thought for that price, I could stay at PP for pretty close to the same. Especially if we could hit other slides, as this is important to my son. But the DLH is just way too pricey without massive discounts just to do slides. We may do the Courtyard after all.

As others have said, even at WDW pool hopping is prohibited unless your resort's pool is closed for refurbishment (then there were is specific pool you can go to instead). DVC members can hop between some pools at WDW, subject to capacity limitation, but even for them some of the pools are closed (e.g., Stormalong Bay).

Even at WDW you can only pool hop under certain circumstances. A couple of examples: if you are staying at a linked/sister resort such as the 3 All Stars you can use any of the pools at just the 3 All Star resorts, or at Jambo or Kidani at AKL you can go to either building's pools. DVC members can swim at certain other resorts, but there are some excluded resorts. Just because someone is staying at a Disney resort at WDW does not mean everyone can pool hop.

The slide at PP is pretty good, longest of all 3 on site hotels, and the slide of choice for my 2 kiddos (we've tried them all). And the EMH you get staying on site goes a long way...
