The pool in our neighborhood opened this weekend and we got the pool rules in our mailbox. One of them states "children who are not toilet trained are required to wear waterproof diaper covers or tight fitting rubber pants and a swimsuit. Swim diapers are not sufficient since they will not contain fecal matter".

Last summer we just used swim diapers - DS is a regular morning pooper so fecal matter was not a problem. I am willing to use diaper covers or rubber pants if I can find them. But after searching a few places on the internet (Babies R Us, One Step Ahead, etc.) I cant find anything. My DS is 2.4. Any ideas of where I could find these items?

I was looking into cloth diapers recently and Bummiz has a diaper cover that is for use while swimming.

I cannot attest to how effective it is though.

It is the third diaper down on the list.

I've never trusted the plastic pants covers.

Target had some swim bottoms at their display with sun glasses, hats, and UV protection shirts. They were the swim diaper variety and would probably work very well.

I ran into an issue with sizing as my little is only 7 weeks old...but these had sizes up to XL...not sure if it would work for your child or not.

We never bought them but I thought those disposable swimmers where waterproof?

We are past that stage now, but I noticed at Target the other day that they had some neat swim pants (non-disposible). I saw them somewhere else as well but I can't remember right now where.

And for the person that thought disposibles are waterproof -- not. I learned this the hard way -- put my ds in his carseat in one. Had a wet carseat when we arrived. They are only made to contain solid -- and doesn't do a good job at that.

Nope lets urine out means water can get in then out again

you can get the plastic pants at the babies R in the burp rag section of the store... at target with the training underpants (gerber cloth underpants not pull ups)

You can buy a reusable baby swimsuit (I've seen them at Babies 'R Us and in the baby aisle at Target.). Basically, it's a swimsuit with plastic pants built-in.

Disposable swim diapers do wick up the wet, but don't hold in #2. If a pool is known to have been contaminated with #2, it can cost quite a bit of $$$$$ to get it cleaned out properly.

Target has had them the past 2 years, the kind that look like bathing suits.

I saw some at I think Rite Aid or Eckard drug stores.

Flap Happy is a brand that makes suits with built in swim diapers. They are cute!

We have mostly used a disposable with Gerber training pants over. That worked very well, especially for my daughter who has larger legs. For DS we had swim trunks with built in swim diaper that we used over a disposable.

I used the disposable underneath just to make it easier for me to clean up if there was a need. You never know, even if your kid is regular. A change in food or location can sometimes make them go.
