Can anyone recommend a good and semi-affordable waterproof backpack?

I think the North Face makes one? But where to find it online? :confused3

Danke!

why do you need a water proof backpack? All of the water rides have a covered area to cover your backpacks, etc. Most of the better backpacks are somewhat water resistant.

Actually, I think this might be a good idea. I usually go during a non rainy time of year but we are going in July this time. I never thought of this, but I think it might actually be a good idea.

Because if we throw the backpack on the ground (in rides) and there is water down there, it will get wet :)

Because if it rains, and water gets through the zippers, the contents will get wet (which includes disposable diapers!) :)

Because I want to put my camera in there - and don't want it to get wet :)

Because I don't want sand and crud in it when we go to the beach either :)

we have a jansport backpack and all of the zippers have a flap that covers them. we have been caught in rain, and rode the water rides with this and it keeps the water out, but i am not sure exactly how much water or how long it can keep out. but it does work for us.

I bought an Under Armor backpack that I really liked. It said it was waterproof. It has those straps that you pull tight and wear on your back more like a sack. The straps are cushioned and the bag is light weight. I bought it at Dick's and it cost about $20. The material part that sits on your back is mesh material too, so you won't get all sweaty.

Here is something I learned from another board post . . .

Purchase some Scotchguard. It comes in a can and you can find it in any store. I sprayed my camera bag (gave it two coats) before I went to WDW and felt it really would let the water run off should I get caught on a rainy day. It helps repel the water, but does not make the bag totally water proof. :earsgirl:

You could just use a big plastic bag with a zipper [zip-lock]inside your backpack.
That's what I do sometimes.
It's cheap and easy.
I even use little plastic baggies in my fannypack to keep some medical stuff from getting wet (ride splashes).

Thanks to another post, I bought this bag and used it. It was perfect. Easy to get through security because they could see everything through the wide opening. Also I tested it by walking all day in the rain at MGM and Epcot one day and it is definitely waterproof! Another thing I like is that it packs completely flat in the suitcase and doesn't take up much space at all.
