I have never been to either of the waterparks and hope to go to both on my upcoming trip. What can you tell me about them? I would like to get a lot done then be on my way.....

Thanks! :)

Both are good; however, Blizzard Beach is our favorite if I had to pick one. Very nice lazy river and some of the slides are super fun especially the family raft one.

With Typhoon Lagoon, there's a tidal wave effect every approx. every few mins. and there is also an attraction where you can snorkle with live fish. Very cool!

Nice way to spend a hot summer day and then visit a another park at night. That's always our plan.

Both parks have a very different feel.....we loved TL, but the theming of BB just didn't do anything for us (but we are northerners, and get enough real snow at home....so others might find the snow theme more novel).

Both parks are reviewed in my trip report from last summer (with lots of pics). Click here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3167818&page=5 and begin reading at post 69. Blizzard Beach comes first, followed by Typhoon Lagoon.

Both are lots of fun,
Both have great lazy rivers
Typhoon lagon has
  • Shark Reef - snorkle with live fish and smaller sharks.
  • Crushin Gusher - a water coaster.
  • A surfing wave pool - much more powerfull waves.
Blizard beach has
  • Teamboat springs - a great family raft ride, one of the longest I've seen.
  • Summit Plummet - very tall and steep speed slide.
  • A Ski lift to take you to the top of the various slides.

We went to both on our trip in May. It felt like BB had way more stairs. Not sure that is true, but it felt true. That said, in BB, when you are climbing stairs, you are always going up. In TL, you go up a dozen steps, then back down 3-4, then back up again as you move through the jungle.

They both have lazy rivers, both have tube rides (single, multi & family), both have high speed, straight-drop slides, both have wave pools.

TL has the swimming with the sharks (we skipped this), a cool water "coaster" where you ride a tube and go both up & down, and a few twisty body slides (no mat or tube. The wave pool is INTENSE and pretty rough.

BB has some twisty slides you ride on mats (love these!), a toboggan-type mat slide and the wave pool is more calm.

My advice would be to pay the $50 or so and get the "reserved" beach loungers and umbrellas. You have your own area a little bit away from all the foot traffic, you don't have to worry about staking out a claim for your chairs, and it felt "secure" enough to leave cell phones, etc. with our stuff, though I'm sure some would counsel against this.
