waterparks in late afternoon?

We are going in a few weeks and thinking of doing waterpark in the late afternoon around 4ish to the close at 7. Are the crowds thinned out at that time? Will the food counters still be open? Planning on eating for dinner there. Thanks.

I don't know about the food counters, but, in particular if the usual afternoon storm has hit, it does substantially clear out. My DS and I once went on all the slides at BB with no wait from 5-7 pm.

If you say a "few weeks" are you before or after labor day? If after, there shouldn't be problems at all. If before, then it'll probably be less crowded.

Most people head to the water parks first thing in the morning and leave early afternoon. We love to go later in the day, usually the last couple of hours because the parks are really thinned out so the wait times are really short. The food counters are open until close to park closing, so you can eat up. One hint though, if you have purchased refillable mugs, the ice is already gone at the refill stations by late afternoon. Have fun!

We did this twice 2 weeks ago... crowds had thinned but waits weren't that much better becase the parks had reach capacity both days during mid day.

But a thunderstorm drove 70% of the people out one of the days and then extra magic hours kicked in so it was great.

No problem finding chairs either day, and the sun was not quite so hot by 5pm.

Thanks for this idea. I was worried about my kids being tired out early by Typhoon Lagoon (which they cannot wait for, by the way) but perhaps this could be the end to a day instead of the beginning. Tell me though, not having been to WDW/FL in the summer, when do these infamous, but mandatory, storms usually arrive?

we might try this too. i haven't upgraded our Park hoppers yet, but I may. i figure instead of doing our break at the hotel, maybe we spend 2-3 hours at the waterpark relaxing on a few slides and lazy river? it sounds heavenly in the heat! only 10 days to go! we'll probably try to go between 3-5pm or so.

The water parks are a great place to spend the afternoon. I'm just not sure I'd call it a relaxing day. For some reason the water parks wear my husband and me out more than the others Go and enjoy yourself. Just dont plan on it being as relaxing as a hotel "rest"

The storms usually hit around 3-3:30 but can hit at anytime.
