I'm sure this has been asked before...but are the waterparks open in December?? We finally broke down and bought APs so I'm not passing up the great AP rates for the pre-holiday season. DS LOVES to swim and we have plusses left from a past trip so it would be great if they're open even if it's only in the 70's.

Thanks in advance : )

:D :D :D

Blizzard Beach should be open, but Typhoon Lagoon is usually closed in November and December.

Keep in mind though that if it gets really cold, they will close BB. A few years ago, we were there the first week of December, and we experienced EVERY type of weather you can imagine...rain, beautiful clear skies, thunderstorm, 80 degree weather, and 40 degree weather (I'm not exagerrating! This was in a 6 day period.)

The first and last day of our stay, BB was open. The 4 days in the middle, it was closed because it was too cold.

So if you have plans on which day to spend in what park, just keep in mind that if it does get cold, you might have to rearrange your plans a bit to go to BB on a day it's open (and also prepare your DS about the possibility of not being able to go).

Hope it works out for you! I still think December is the BEST time to go!

I think that Typhoon Lagoon is open the second half of December and closed the first? I'd love to hear any info on this. Also, because you don't know in December just when that warm day is going to be in advance I thought about subsituting it for the afternoon rest time any day of our trip that WARM happened.

We were just talking about this today! We are going December 5th and someone who went a couple years ago the same week said to be prepared and to bring winter coats, hats and gloves!!!!

I am SO hoping it will be warm enough to use the pool and water parks though. The kids love to swim and will be so bummed if it is too cold.

It's also making it tough for me to figure out what tickets to buy. Seems silly to worry about the Plus features if we won't be able to use the waterpark ones. Oh how I WISH the Plus's could be used for Disney Quest!

My sister and I went in early December last year for the taping of the Christmas parade. It was sooooo cold that day! The pools at the hotel were deserted and when we drove by BB, it was open but there were literally 2 rows of cars in the parking lot!

hey LuvTiger
Was that December 2002 that you went? We went then and it was HORRIBLE weather. Out of 8 days, there were two nice days and the rest we either POURING rain or just plain cold.
On a side note - when desparate for warmth for the Candelight Processional, the blankets at Mexico were just under $20 I believe -great bargain.
