Hi! We are heading back June 5th for 9 days with our 4 and 7 year old. Wondering if it's worth getting the waterpark tickets at that age? We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside so have access to that pool as well as French Quarters....Worth the extra time away from the parks and $$ at this age?? As a note, the 7 yr old is not particularly adventurous but does swim well.

I should add, she had so much fun, we've considered skipping a couple park days next time around and do water parks instead. But then, every kid is different.

Yes- the water parks are a nice change of pace, a very different vibe :cool1:
But- my only concern would be the crowds as we've never gone during a busy time...

That was my other worry! I am a teacher, so stuck going at peak forever! But we haven't gone in June before. I'm hoping leaving early June will help crowds a bit. Last trip was over New Years so water parks weren't an option. And before that they were too little.
Oh what to do.

Glad to hear a 3 year old enjoyed it!

Oh there is plenty to do there for all ages. We first went when my son was five and we've gone every trip since. We have so many laughs! Be sure to bring a waterproof camera!

We've never gone to a Disney water park. We've been to aquatica but only bc we heard rave reviews about it. Honestly we have a fantastic water park at home that we get season passes for so we can't see taking away park days to go to the water parks plus the extra money it costs. Plus the hotel has a nice pool that we can relax at if we want to swim. It's really about the kids would they rather swim and do water slides or go to a theme park and do rides and possibly see more characters.

My DS8 is a competitive swimmer so we spend lots of time at pools. He doesn't really enjoy the resort pools that much. He LOVES the waterparks though. We have had PAP's for several years now and he has gotten used to going 2-3 times a trip. Then we usually do DHS in the evening with our 3 FP+ so we get a lot out of those days. We just got back from a Thanksgiving week trip and he actually cried because we didn't go to a waterpark. It was too cool except for Monday (we had other plans that day).

I also have a DS2 and even at his age and he can't swim yet (but he is fearless) he has a blast. There is so much even he can do.

ETA: We go in the summer quite a bit and if you get to the waterpark at opening, it really isn't that bad at all (and it is plenty warm enough, even at 9am). We do all the bigger slides first, then save the lazy river and wave pool for later when the crowds build.

Was done there last summer in june with 5/7 yo.. Yes there is a lot for little people to do. we found there was a split with our 3rd who is 10. She was gun ho for bigger rides. wave pools, lazy river, jungle gym course... it does and can split a group, but nothing to worry about. Nice change of pace from the parks.

I would go for it..

I say this as it has a more relaxed pace, and totally different Disney vibe. For that age I would go to Typhoon Lagoon, Its our favorite, and was the only water park we would go to when our DD's were this age. We enjoyed the family rides, and the choice of slides is good for smaller kiddos. It's not all the super slides. Its nice to sit in a beach chair for a while, and relax.

My DS wears glasses and water parks are definitely NOT his thing because of it. At least at the POR quiet pool he could cool off in the shallow end with his glasses on and not worry about being able to see well. Same at FW pool. By the time he was a little older the only part of TL that he really enjoyed was the lazy river.

My kids are a little older than yours but when we visited last August we opted for the waterparks and more tickets.

Last time when we visited a waterpark , DD was 2, shes 11 now.
Both kids had a blast at Blizzard Beach when we went 9 years ago. The kids have been asking to go back but we always stay at the BC/YC, and I seen no need to spend extra on the waterparks.

This year I gave in. We did both waterparks and Disneyquest.
We all had a great time.
Blizzard Beach definetly was the winner. BB has a great little kids area too.

I definitely think you should go for it! We went to both BB and TL on our last trip and my boys, who turned 6 on the trip, had a blast! We'll be visiting the waterparks on our next trip at my sons' request. We all like BB more than TL. They have a nice kid's area and a great family tube ride at BB.

Super helpful all!!! I guess I always love the parks so much that I hate to leave them for anything else lol! I will Definately consider it now, I really was leaning away from them before but all this feedback is super helpful!

I like the water parks ok but not as much as the rest of my family. My Dh and three kids love the water parks just as much if not more then the actual theme parks. In fact for our upcoming May trip we plan on buying 4 day passes with the waterpark option so we can have 4 park days and 4 water park days.

It's nice that there is always something to do during the hot crowed afternoon. You can swim in the wave pool, play in the splash pool or ride the lazy river without having to wait in line and stand around in the heat. It's also nice to just relax in the lounge chairs for awhile, after all I am on vacation.
