Someone here had posted about being able to buy bottled water and some sort of cooler on the ship to take with you to the beach, etc.
Can someone give me more info. on this...it sounds like something we may be interested in since we'll probably be spending most of the day in the water at CC.
As always, TIA!!

Yes it is true. I can't tell you the price they charged because I didn't purchase it but I did see them selling bottled water in yellow soft sided coolers with the DCL logo right outside the elevators on the floor that you get off the ship at. They were even selling them on other port days. I hope someone on here will respond and can tell you the price.

I am not sure- but I seem to remember someone posting $25 for a soft-side cooler and 6 water bottles. Is that right?

Your best bet is to pick up some water on the way to Port Canaveral. There are many retail stores only minutes from the port. You can buy a case or two of water, give it to the porter along with the rest of your luggage and he/she will bring it to your stateroom.

The cooler that was spoken off was probably the one in the stateroom which is not portable. The cooler is the size of a small refrigerator which is installed in most rooms in a cabinet below the TV. It can be used to store cold items, but isn't very effective at cooling drinks, etc. If you added ice to the cooler that would help, but again it is not a refrigerator.

You can ask for a refrigerator to be placed in your stateroom, but most that are available are reserved for people with medical conditions that need to store there medicines in a refrigerator, so you can ask for one, but don't be surprised if there are none available.

Regardless (excuse the tangent) you seemed more interested in a cooler to take to the beach which I am not sure you can bring with you onboard. I know this was covered before and I believe there is a size limitation on the size of a hard-sided cooler, so your best bet is to bring a soft-sided cooler you can pack in your luggage and fill it up on a daily basis as needed.

You can buy water onboard, but buying a case at Walmart is so much more cost-effective.

You can definetly buy the soft yellow cooler on port days. It comes with 6 bottles of water and you can get ice at the ice station.

I believe it was just less than $20.00.

We brought large water bottle (sport bottles) and filled them up at the ice station in the morning with ice and a little water. We had nice cold water all day long. Worked great for our excursion to Stingray City.

So Jeff - nobody questioned you giving the porters cases of water not packed into any luggage? Did you just write your name/SR # on it? Just curious!

I'd like to know this too. Do they tag the case of water or what? I'm surprised the porters will check this and take it to your room. I'd be very happy if they did this, just surprised.

Once we broke down a case of water and stuffed it in our luggage, another time we took it with us in a stroller. We also brought a couple of cases of "ready to feed" formula for Sarah, which we put our name and stateroom on the boxes and the porter took those with our luggage.

The bottom line is that porters, bellhops and other hard working folks appreciate it when you take care of them and are willing to go that extra mile when you do.

All in all, the worst that can happen is your case of 16 oz bottles of water you spent $5 for at Wal*mart doesn't get delivered to your room.

I can tell you first hand the people checking in next to me had a huge pack of bottled water from Cosco, like 5 20 bottle packs, wrapped in clear plastic wrap to hold them all together. They had a Disney baggage yellow tag taped to them. The porter just loaded them into the luggage cart no questions asked. I can't imagine why they would NOT let you bring in water.

But I have to tell you, we drank the ship water and it was fine. I guess if it is a big deal for you, lug all the water you want.

As for the $20 soft cooler, you are paying for the logo and the convenience. You can get one from Walmart for about $6.
