Water temperature at Castaway Cay at the end of May

Not in May, but the first week of June and it was comfortable. We had an overcast, drizzly day so had the sun been out it may have felt a little bit better. As it was, we were all just fine in and out of the water.

I'd assume may would be fine. We were there in January (NYE cruise) and we went in the water.

It seems to me this will really depend on what you're used to; i.e. where you're from. I've read people saying CC is cool at different times in the year but from what I can see, even in December it's at least as hot as a hot summer day where I'm from in Canada.

I am from Mississippi. We were there in February and the water was too cold for me to enjoy it. We are going again in May and hoping to be able to get in the water.

The average Bahamas water temperature in May is 78 degrees. June is 80 degrees. So the end of may should be somewhere in that range.

The average air temp is 84/71 in May, and 86/74 in June.

These figures aren't from Castaway but from somewhere very close in the region - Elbow Cay - which is off the eastern coast of Abaco Island, where Castaway is off the western coast of Abaco Island - so these figures should be pretty close

Who has been to Castaway Cay in May? Was the water temperature comfortable or still really cold?

We cruised May 30th of this year and our CC day was June 1st. The water was cool to me at first but we quickly adjusted. We are from GA and often vacation in the FL Panhandle so anything other than bath water is cool to us. ;)

We cruised in the middle of June in 2012 and the water temp was very similar to this year. Not much of a change at all but it was fine after you got used to it. We are cruising late May again in 2014 and will have a stop at CC and we will be getting in the water. :)

absolutely this depends on where you are from!

We have cruised past 2 yrs during 3rd week of May and both times a wee bit chilly,, tolerable but the big difference was one yr it was a beautiful bright sunny day so it seemed "warmer", the next yr it was overcast all day so the only time I got in water was for the Sting ray excursion.

We were at CC at the beginning of May this year and spent the whole day in the water.

We've been there in May and found it chilly. Makes you take a deep breath when you get in at first. Having said that, we went snorkeling at CC in December so if we can do that, May should be fine once you get used to the water.

Yes... Thanks! I'm waiting to be added to the roll call. Are y'all doing FE?

We really haven't decided yet. I think it would be a lot of fun but also very time consuming. I've been trying to think of gifts that don't require any crafting skills but I haven't come up with anything yet. Are y'all participating?

We are from the Seattle area and we were there Mid-May this year and it was like swimming in a heated pool to me. I thought the water was so comfortable and loved it way more than I thought I would!

Oriental Trading, Dollar Tree, 99 cent store, Target dollar bins, Etsy sellers... No crafting needed. ;)
