Do you still get drenched at water rides in winter or do those not run? Hate to miss them, but can't even imagine getting wet at night in 40 degree weather. Thanks!

Oh, you still get drenched! And I wouldn't suggest riding them at night! We were there recently and rode Jurassic Park, Popeye, and Dudley Do Right. For JP, the first time we rode it, we were towards the back and got a little wet. Then we rode it again in the front row and got soaked.

We rode Dudley Do Right a couple of times and didn't get very wet regardless of where we sat. DD sat in the very front and actually thought she got some water protection from the front of the car.

And we rode Popeye once and all got soaked. DD and I ended up in the prime seats and got drenched over and over again. I was laughing so hard I thought I was going to pee my pants. We would have loved to ride again but it just wasn't warm enough to.

We did them all right after another and used different strategies. Some of us wore our bathing suits and then put our fleeces on as soon as a ride was over. Others wore a water-resistant jacket during the rides and then took them off after we were done. And we made sure to do them during the warmest part of the day. No way would we have done them in the evening or nighttime!

By Dudley Do Right, there is a body dryer for either $3 or $5 (can't remember which). We didn't use it, so I don't know how well it works. Of course, more people than not were wearing ponchos.

They're SO much fun - I hope you do get a chance to enjoy them!

We went yesterday...we are staying on site at the HRH. It was still warm yesterday I don’t think I would go today it is way too cold. I'm not sure if they are even open. We dressed in flipflops and shorts and walk over, do the water rides then go back to the hotel because it's typically too cold to hang around all wet.

The water rides will run in the colder weather. They may have no line all day, but they will be available.

There are dryers/heaters near the entrances to Popeye & Blutos as well as Dudley Do-Right. They are $5 per cycle (cycles are 3 min, iirc). There will be a period of time when they get annual rehab, but that is not until Jan/Feb.

We were there in December 7th to the 14th. The weather was pretty much in the 40's. Coats and sweaters are a requirement. The rides were going. You will get wet. On splash mountain they were had ponchos (on sale?) outside the ride but we already had them. I wore one. I was sitting in the second row. I only really got wet around my face. My poncho was pretty much dry except for my head and a little bit from the seat. The ride varies though. It really depends on where you sit. Also, there is a spot on the ride where you can get drinched if you happen to cross another boat going down the biggest slide and causes a wave to hit you and go into the boat.

We were at Universal 12/03/10 to 12/05 and rode Jurassic Park one evening when the temp was around 45. We were the only two on the boat and the person running it said to sit on row three or four to avoid getting wet. It worked and we just got a few drops!

Great time having the ride all to ourselves!

The only one you should do is Jurassic Park its a not to be missed ride at the park and one of my favorite rides out of any park. If you duck your head into the cushion seat in front of you at the last minute you should not get wet much at all other than a little splash on your back. Honestly I don't ever seem to get very wet on this ride ever, I don't think I have ever been "drenched" on this ride, but some may disagree. Now it is a totally different story with Blutos Barges and Dudley Do Right, you get drenched on those, but I've heard Dudley is closed for now anyway.
