Water rides... how to protect your electronics?

The ride that has me the most concerned is Kali River Rapids, but Splash Mountain might be an issue too. We will have cameras, cell phones, and probably a video camera. I have looked into buying those waterproof bags that you use on boats, but then I thought maybe we could just put our entire fanny pack (ugh) right into one of those giant ziploc bags. Has anyone tried this? Do you think the ziploc bag would work or is that too risky with so many electronics?

Ever since our disasterous rainey trip of 4 years ago, I carry one ziploc for every electronic. I just tuck them aside and zip up the stuff when needed.

ditto on zip lock bags
We place camera's, cell phones and wallets in zip lock bags.

Kali River Rapid - does have a center area on the raft to place small bags to keep somewhat dry.

I keep everything ($$, park tix, cell phone) in a small (quart) freezer ziploc bag inside my small purse in case it rains, or we get wet on a ride. Our new small video camera fits nicely inside a gallon size freezer bag, and the regular camera fits nicely inside a quart bag. I put both of those bags inside one backpack. Sometimes if I don't carry a purse I put all the bags in the back pack. The bags are also good for not letting small things drop to the bottom of your backpack individually. If you put all the small things in one bag they are easier to pull out. I use freezer bags because they are more durable, especially for the electronics. Also, you never know when you might put your backpack down in a puddle on the floor, even when it's not raining or on a wet ride.. Been there, done that!

I keep my camera in a plastic makeup bag I purchased at Wal-mart. It was cheap! I have several. I also use one for my daughter's inhaler. One for makeup and lots of other things. They are more durable than a ziplock bag and they help me keep my messanger bag organized since they sit up in the bottom of it like a small purse. My phone will also fit inside with the camera when necessary. They are clear so I can see what is inside as well as security officers when checking bags. I usually leave it unzipped and sitting on the bottom of my messanger bag so I can just reach in and grab it when needed. And I just need to quickly zip it closed on water rides.

Zip Lock baggies are a must for us. Two trips back my digital camera got all wet during a brief rainstorm. Nothing happened to it, thankfully, but I was paranoid for a whole day... My wife carries around a Canon Digital Rebel, and now she has an XT, and for that we ussually get a locker for when we wanna do wet rides or she gets tired of carrying it around. We also keep a backpack with dry clothes in it... :laundy:

We also use ziploc bags. At DLR, Grizzly River Run (same ride as Kali River Rapids at AK), there are *free* lockers right beside the queue that we store our things in if we don't want to take pictures. We also take off our tennies and put on sandals so we're not walking around all day with wet shoes and socks.

Thank you so much for all your responses! It looks like ziploc bags will work fine and I don't have to go through the expense of buying those special waterproof bags.
