Water question?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but is the tap water in France drinkable or will it give you a stomach upset?

I've read about people filling their water bottles up at the water fountains but wanted to make sure it's safe as the last thing I want is an upset tummy!!

I was drinking it as they told me it was 100% safe....the holiday ended with me being VERY ill.....but I am almost certain I got food poisoning from a meal I had but can't be certain.....I think if I did get ill from the water I would have been ill before the end of the holiday.....I would drink it again...maybe!

I've drank water from the fountains in the park and was not ill, the same goes with my niece too.

Yes the water is drinkable. For us it is a combination of the taste and drinking from a communal drinking fountain

Thanks guys. So do you reckon it would be OK to fill up our drinking bottles in the hotel room in the morning before we hit the parks?

I'm trying to save money as I believe the bottled water is very expensive.

This I would say is a no no. The cold water coming into your room will not necessarily be suitable for drinking whereas nothing wrong with boiling it up for a coffee.
Mind you this isn't unique to DLP. Most hotels in the UK normally have a disclaimer in the bathroom saying the water is not suitable for drinking

This is the water I was drinking they said it was a 100% ok??????..in saying that I didn't really drink alot.

I'm gonna buy a big bottle of water at the garage next time

I drank the water in Hotel Cheyenne from our bathroom tap - i'm fussy and it seemed fine. sound advice though.
at breakfast they have a water dispenser where you can fill water bottles up if you're worried.
The one place the water hasn't agreed with me in Europe is Venice but that may not surprise anyone.
I think the Marne La Vallee water is way better than Paris water which is one of the ways I justify staying in a disneyland hotel for weeks on end. As if I had to...

Until our 3rd trip we drank the water, but then the whole group of 7 of us came down with a tummy bug and since then we've stuck to bottled water.

I drink the water with no issues (but then again I drink water in India and eat raw veggies there...)

If you are concerned about cost buy your water at the Casino in the train station before entering the park

There is nothing wrong with the tap water in the UK, it has been drinkable way before I was even born

Having spent 11 years working for a large UK water company in their water quality laboratory I can confirm that the UK tap water is of a very high standard and can be drank. Many people from other european countries can sometimes have a problem with the levels of chlorine in the UK water supply but this can be removed if the water is placed in a jug in the fridge overnight.

The tap water in France also meets the European Drinking Water requirements and should be fine to drink. But again if you are used to a particular water type it may not be to your taste.

However, a thing to take into account when using water taken from a tap in a hotel bathroom is that although the water may be of high quality when it enters the premises the quality of the water once it reaches the room will depend on the pipework used in the hotel, whether the water is stored in tanks to ensure a constant supply, the amount/turnover of water used and how close the tap is to the toilet. This is often why a disclaimer saying that the water is not sutiable for drinking is often seen, as they can no longer be sure of the quality.

I personally would not drink the water (other than boiled) from a hotel bathroom tap unless it is actually marked as drinking water.

We buy large bottles from the garage by the Santa Fe and just decant some into smaller bottles for taking into the parks (this is in summer, this last trip we needed hot drinks! ) but if anyone is on a tight budget then I would do as Caroline suggests and boil the water from your room, once cooled it will be fine and it can't taste any worse than bottled water!!
