Water question

There are different types of bacteria in water everywhere. Bacteria are everywhere and Florida is no different. In some cases people are sensitive to bacteria or other micro-organisms simply because their body isn't used to it. In other cases there can be E. coli and other fecal coliforms that cause illness. I am sure there are standards for these harmful microbes in Florida water and while you may get upset stomach, even the runs, it is most likely the chemicals (compounds of sulfer among other things) and not the microbes. Remember a biological filter can't remove dissolved chemicals. But it can't hurt.

I won't drink the florida water even from a fountain. I get sick from it always have. I will spend the two bucks on a bottle of water before I drink water from a fountain.

If Florida water is so bad, how come much of the bottled water sold all over the United States comes from Florida?

does it really? I didnt know that

There are water fountains EVERYWHERE - you won't have any issues there.

I live in Miami and Disney water has it's own unique taste - I've had a lifetime to get used to it ;) but now it's grown to be part of the WDW world experience!

I don't know what's different about their water but when I wash my hair at the hotels it always looks fantastic! That doesn't happen at home! hehe

Can someone tell me... are there many water fountains throughout WDW and if so, does this water taste and smell as bad as regular Florida water does?

Okay as a Floridian I'm a little offended here. I agree with you, DISNEY water tastes gross. However you can;t clump all Florida water together with Disney water (or Orlando water)

I live on the West coast where we have natural springs. Including Zephyrhills where Zephyhills bottle water comes from that many of you buy and bring to WDW.

By the way the entire state of Florida is not built on a swamp either

By the way I've lived in NY and PA., so I've had other water.

Just back last week and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't think the water tasted bad at all. However the water from the fountains was not cold at all, so you will need to get a cup of ice first if that's important to you. I can't stand water that isn't ice cold. Anyway I didn't bother with that and just bought the bottled water, but I think next time I will try the cup of ice and water fountain.

Although the water tastes different than what I'm accustomed to drinking, I don't have any problem with it at all. I'm not a water elitist like others on this thread, though, as I've been forced to drink 'well water' at one point of my life.

Brita Fill & Go bottles are the only way to go. We found a lot of water fountains that were cold in all 4 parks recently. A few times we asked for a cup of free ice water and filled up our bottles. It tasted fine to us. Some cold water fountains were right next to the room temperature water fountains. We just checked them all out. :thumbsup2

I cannot seem to find a brita fill n go water bottle. I found the replacement filters for it but not bottles. I went to the brita web and they have discontinued it. I'm gonna check a few more places and if i don't find one i will have some filters for sale!!!

The problem is carrying it. We saved quite a bit of money at meals last trip by getting the free cups of water at each restaurant. I didn't notice any strange taste that I remember, but the little drink packets are a great idea, too. You can get the water from anywhere to refill your bottle and then drop in another packet to make it taste like something other than water.

First trip with our ds5 was when he was 4 months old. We switched to powdered formula to lighten our load. We just added cold fountain water--no problem. Except he got the runs. After his next trip to WDW (and the runs) we realized it was the FL water. First I wouldn't let him drink the park water. We have a relative who lives in Kisssimmee with her water bottle and he had some of that. No good. We buy a load of water at Publix, freeze it and bring it or we buy it. Nothing's worse than having a child with the runs in WDW if you can prevent it.

If you have a sensitive stomach, don't drink it. But if you just don't like the taste, I think the packets are the way to go.

I saw this family bring in this HUGE cooler full of water and snacks (maybe it was 2 or more families together) and they rented a double stroller to wheel it around.
