Water Question - what does it taste like?

How does it compare to say Maryland water? If anyone is from Maryland

DH wants to carry 2 water bottles - one for each of us. That's $16 in Brita Water bottles... um, not much savings versus buying it at the park if you ask me. Well, I guess depends how much we drink. The other thing is DH can drink water that's hot...I need it to be ice cold.

I also figured even if we each bought drinks at the park (water or whatever) for lunch and dinner isn't that $8 a day (plus tax) x 6 days = $48 on drinks plus tax about $50+ bucks... We'll probably spend $50 at dinner at CRT!

How difficult do you think it is to buy a 12 pack of bottle water at home and take it on the carry on the plane?

Really, you need to drink so much water to stay hydrated that we more than got our money's worth out of our Brita bottles! To us, the water there has a strong sulpher-like taste and smell...can even smell it in the ice cubes in sodas in restaurants.

Orlando water is TERRIBLE.

IMO, it isn't drinkable....I don't know what Maryland water taste like, but it (FL water) isn't nearly as tasty as Alabama water ....

The water fountains are not cold, either.....

I don't really think I would bother bringing my own case of water (that would be a HUGE pain in the ****!)...but either buying it in a local grocery store (if you have a car) or just buying it in the park would be my choice.

The water does have a strange taste to it. There is now a building code in Orlando that requires water filtration systems to be put in to new structures or during remodeling. I noticed when we stayed at AKL that the water was filtered. I'm sure some of the older resorts still don't have the filtration systems. I haven't tried the water in the parks, but I'm sure it isn't good. I have the filtration system in my home and I can drink the water, although it still doesn't taste good to me. I'm still a fan of Missouri water!

I never get ice in my drinks because it melts and makes the drinks taste bad. Most of the time, fountain drinks are already cold and you really don't need ice.

I agree, the water in Florida is bad. We bought water at the local WalMart and froze it, so it slowly melted during the day. It will be hot in May, and so will the water.

Marylander's are pretty lucky with water. Whenever we go to Florida, we rent a car so we pick up a case of water to take with us. We tried Brita and it helps, but you can still get that strange flavor. It reminds me a little of Ocean City water.

We moved from Maryland last year, and never had a problem with the water in Maryland. Florida water is another story...I really didn't like the taste, esp in the hotel rooms when I got thirsty overnight. We bought bottled water for our room last time, but I'm going to try the Brita water bottle this time.

I live here and even when I visited I never had a problem with the water. I think it tastes just fine.

I’m another one that doesn’t mind the taste of the water in WDW. I usually just buy one bottle of water in the park and then refill it at a water fountain for the rest of the trip. Now, if the water sits in the bottle overnight…it’s not too tasty the next morning…but I’ve noticed that that happens with any water, even the water that originally came in the bottle.

I can't remember how much the bottled water is, approx. 3.00...you need to stay hydrated which would mean probably at least 2-3 bottles per day each x your 6 days is $54.00 minimum. Seems to me that the cost of the brita bottles would be worth it. I just purchased some for our upcoming trip, bought 2 for five of us to share, so we will be refilling quite a bit, but can't imagine how much our water would cost if we hadn't bought them. Of course when we sit down to eat we will order drinks also. Happy drinking!!

Last year I brought a brita bottle and used it at epcot. the water still tasted very gross. Mgm's water tasted ok to me. this year I bought the crystal light packets on the go and we are going to try those. MK was very border line. If you are drinking the water just to get hydrated I found that if you just gulp it down it is not all that bad.

We thought the water in the fountains at MK was undrinkable. We bought water at a grocery store and took several bottles in our backpack each day and some juice boxes.

While we do order some bottled water while we're in WDW (from wegoshop.com), we also have no issues with the water there. We usually bring a bottle of water from our room with us to the parks. But, we soon get tired of lugging it around!! So, we trash the bottle and start sipping from the fountains (bubblers). We just grab a sip or two whenever we pass by one. that way we never get really thirsty. Haven't found it to be terrible...different from home, but not terrible.

We used to live in Florida and the water was fine to us. We have lived in several states and usually never have problems with the water. I guess some people are just super sensitive. Go ahead and lug your bottles around, but I am more than happy that we don't feel the need to. I find it hard to believe that folks can actually say that WDW/Florida water is not safe. They have the same standards as everyone else. It is not a 3rd world country down there for crying out loud. Enjoy

I made the mistake of ordering Lemonade at Aunt Polly's in the Magic Kingdom. It was awful; that sulfer taste/smell permeated the whole drink and I couldn't take it. Also, the ice in our drinks at the Plaza Restaurant ruined our Cokes when it melted. Bleh. The fountains at MK weren't doable. And I think the water at Fort Wilderness was pretty nasty too. It seemed to me that mostly the water at the resorts around the MK and the MK itself were the bad water areas and the rest of the resort was OK.

The water is safe to drink, it just tastes bad, like sweaty armpits(worse when the water is warm.) We lived in S. Florida for over a year and never got used to the taste.

lol, I find myself nastalgic for the smell of the water. It reminds me of the Dis. The smell is really strong on Splash Mountain. It can also be tasted in the frozen coke's at the Contemporary.

Strangely, I tend to be picky about water, and it doesn't bother me at WDW. It's different and not quite as good as I have here at home, but I can certainly live with it. I bought the Brita bottles and used them once - I hated carrying them around, and much preferred getting a glass of tap water at meals and using the drinking fountains otherwise.

We live in CA and never drink tap water here. We only drink bottled water. Can you buy bottled water on the ship?
