I have been on water pills on an off for a very long time. Lately mostly off. I am back on them but now they make me flushed, like a huge hot flash. It happens about 1-2 hours after taking them. Right now I am a tomato :rotfl:.

When I google water pills and flushed it gives me sights to clear drugs out of my system. Definitely not going to answer my question that way...

Does this happen to anyone else. Is it more of a "I am getting older" problem? Don't worry, I have an appt. Thursday, and I will ask, but thought I could get some insight tonight. Thanks.

Is it Lasix ? Hydroclorothiazide? Spirolactone? Bumex ? That is all of the diuretics I can name off the top of my head.........

Yes, the drug name would help. If you look up the specific drug it will tell you the side effects and precautions. You might discuss it with your doctor before taking another dose.

It's hydrochlorothiazide (wow can they make the name any longer) and I plan on talking to him Thursday. I won't take tomorrows pill in case it is more than a common side effect. Never thought to look up just the drug as while I like to be informed, sometimes I "imagine" side-effects.

It's not like it hurts or itches, I just look like a tomato from the neck up. Guess it isn't normal...

I'm really not sure what's going on. Facial flushing can be an early sign of rapid dehydration. I'm wondering if your body somehow metabolized the drug quickly and caused effects. Were you terribly swollen or do you take this for your blood pressure? Either way, I would not take them again until your doctor advises you to do so.
Stay hydrated.

I didn't take my blood pressure and I didn't feel like I do when it is high. I have been actually running low lately, he reduced the HB meds and re-added the water pill. Maybe it is not a good combination for me. About the dehydration, I drank my 60 ounces of water today but I did seem to lose the same amount. I will ask him about dehydration though as I am not very "good" at remembering my water intake.

It's gone for tonight, but I think I will get a large glass of water just in case, and make sure to drink a little extra tomorrow. No pill though, tonight scared me enough.

Thanks everyone who answered. I really appreciate it.
