Water parks

We've been to Orlando on four occaisions, but never done a water park. All our kids love swimming,(ten yrs,two at eight, and one at five)none of us are strong swimmers,but I'd like some suggestions for a water park in December, and more importantly where to get reduced ticket prices. Hi Geoff -
Blizzard Beach is closed until December 13, open from 14th onwards and Typhoon Lagoon is open until the 13th and closed from 14th onwards and so it depends on what your trip dates are as to which park you'll be able to visit.

It is always difficult to choose between these two and I'm sure you'll enjoy whichever one is open during your visit - be sure to get there for park opening and get your base (and sunloungers)first before exploring.

You also have Wet'nWild on I Drive - I prefer the Disney theming and so have only seen this park in passing. Hopefully someone else can give you some pointers on that.

For advance tickets, check out www.ticketmania.com as they usually will post tickets over free. (Let's hope the postal dispute is settled soon).
Hoppers bought in advance are cheaper than the gate price.

You certainly don't need to be a strong swimmer to enjoy the Disney water parks. I'm a reluctant swimmer but can still have a great day out just doing the parts of the park that suit me.

Depending on the timing of your December trip, I think I'd be wary of buying tickets in advance, as I'd prefer to see what the weather is like before committing myself to a day in the water parks. If you do buy in advance, plan to be flexible enough to hit the water parks on the first hot day you get - then, if the weather turns cooler later on, you won't feel obliged to use up the ticket in less-than-ideal conditions. Weather that's warm enough for a swim in the hotel pool isn't necessarily warm enough to tempt me to spend all day in a swimming costume! (but then I'm a namby pamby ).

Hi,

Disney Water Parks have become a MUST DO part of our trips - we love 'em and I'm sure that you will too.
Both BB and TL are great in their own ways. If you happen to be travelling in the middle of December and have a choice then I would probably go for BB as there are more 'tube' rides rather than body slides - the family raft ride is excellent and the theming is fab.
Typhoon Lagoon always strikes me as more relaxed - not as much emphasis on the rides, but the wave pool is good and the sharf reef (snorkelling area) is great - especially if you've never snorkelled before.

I agree that you should wait and see what the weather is like, but the water is a constant temperature - it will only feel chilly if the air is cool. We have done them in January before now, and the great thing is the queues are almost non existent.

Approach Wet n Wild with caution - I found the rides more scary and not as well staffed and for me the scariest bits were walking up the steps - without the Disney themeing I was aware of the height and suffered from vertigo, particularly with 'open' steps.
Don't get me wrong W&W is fab - but I wouldn't make it my first Florida water park experience.
