What is the thought of going to one of the water parks the first day upon arriving to WDW? Currently you can go to one of the parks for free on your arrival day

If you plan to drive, arrive early. Parking is filling and guests arriving by car are being turned away until later in the day when spots free up. At this time, no reports of buses being turned away/not running, have been reported.

Later this month both water parks will open at the same time which hopefully alleviates these challenges.

If you are arriving on a weekend and the weather is nice and warm, water parks can be jammed with locals. Nothing whatsoever against the locals who enjoy these parks, but you can find yourself parked in “overflow” parking, and have a tough time securing lockers and lounge chairs. Lines for everything are long, and the experience is just not the same. Our family did it once last May and it was CRAZY.

As noted above, having both parks open may alleviate the crowds, which sure would be nice for everyone looking to enjoy some weekend time. Fingers crossed!

I have reserved (and paid for) the umbrella with the chairs for 4. Does anyone know if a water park reaches capacity will I get a refund?

I'm curious about this as well. We are going to Typhoon Lagoon in August and I'd like to book a cabana. If I show up 1:00 and the park is at capacity can I still get in since I have a cabana booked or they just cancel my cabana and refund me? Thank you for the responses

I had read somewhere that having a reservation for a cabana or other seating would not necessarily get you in but I would hope for a refund at least.

The initial reports of waterparks at capacity later turned out incorrect. The parking lots were at capacity, but guests could still arrive by Disney bus. So, if you're turned away go park at AK or DS and bus in.
