We're going to the Disney Water Parks for the first time this trip, but we're only going for one day, so we can only go to one of the parks. Should we go to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon? :confused3

BB is our favorite as we like the overall atmosphere better and we think the slides are faster/longer than at TL.

We love the water parks:) ask yourself, are you thrill seekers (Blizzard Beach). or laid back beach (TyphoonLagoon) type. Blizzard Beach has more rides and you won't fill like you have to walk/climb as much. Blizzard Beech also has more of an in between pre-teen section. We usually spend 4-5 days at water parks so please take a visit. No waits when the park opens or during the last 2 hours.

Good summary. We prefer TL, but we prefer the wave pool at BB (gentle waves as opposed to crashing surf). I like TL almost more than the regular parks.

We visited both on our August 2013 trip. You can see lots of photos and read our full write up in my trip report (click on the link in my signature). Blizzard Beach begins on page 5, while Typhoon Lagoon is on page 6.

We were not fans of the "snow" theme at Blizzard Beach. But we're northerners, so we see lots of the real stuff. It just seemed out of place for a waterpark. Typhoon Lagoon, in comparison, was green and tropical and lush.

We much preferred the huge, crashing wave pool at TL to the smaller, bobbing pool at BB.

Hard call. We love both. Typhoon Lagoon has waterslides that seem easy to get to and the Shark Reef which is really cool. Blizzard Beach has what feel like more extreme waterslides and the Summit Plummet. Whichever one you do pick make sure to get the Sandpail at the snack bar, it's FULL of ice cream and the sprinkles are Mickey ears. :)

Have fun,
:)

For as many as you ask, you will get a different answer. You'll have to pay attention to the "why's" to see if they match what is important to you. We went to both last summer and came out with TL on top!! Why? because the wave pool does something we've never seen at any other wavepool, ever...because there is a saltwater tank you can snorkel in and see real-life sea creatures in (no animatronics here), we love snorkeling and are advanced enough swimmers at just the right age to float, relax and enjoy so we do this over and over again...because they have multiple water coasters and we have a wild side too. There is A LOT of sand at TL, I'll leave that up to you as to whether that is a positive or a negative. BB has a lot of concrete, again up to you.

We've done both, but find ourselves returning to TL. The wave pool is awesome! Have to pry my younger nephew out of it. Plus, as a previous poster mentioned, we are from the northeast and are generally over snow, so the theme at TL works better for us.

We considered both for our first water park visit and although the snow theme looked great, we chose TL because: we don't do extreme waterslides (I can't even get DD on the tame ones that I would do), DD thought TL's wave pool looked better, and I really wanted to swim the shark reef.
No regrets at all!

Can you do morning at one and afternoon at the other?
Unless something has changed you can, but it would count as 2 minor park entries.
It'd be awfully hard to drag yourself away from one to the other, though.
And you'd be looking for chairs all over again.
Otherwise, that could be fun!

Yes, but not on a single day ticket. You'll need to have WPF&M option. It will count as 2 uses.

OP, I also have a review from our trip in the link in my signature (like PP). Read a fee of these for more details on the pluses and minuses of each. Your family's tastes and ages will play a part in choosing one over the other.

We refer Typhoon Lagoon. Mostly because the kid love the huge waves in the wave pool and the shark tank swim. The slides are a little better at BB, but not a lot different. The theming at BB is a nice change though since TL is tropical.

You'll find that the different families like each for different reasons. Review why they like them and then choose what you think your family would enjoy most.

Gumbo4x4 - thank you for your TR. The info on both waterparks was very helpful!

For little kids, the kids areas at typhoon lagoon beat out blizzard beach. But if everyone in your party is over 48", I would then recommend blizzard beach instead. I also think the theming is cuter at blizzard beach personally rather than the sort of standard but nice tropical theming at typhoon lagoon.

Both are great. You'll have fun at either one.

For years we preferred the kiddie area of TL and I love the themeimg of TL so much more than BB. Then the DD's outgrew the kiddie area but were still too young for the big slides and BB has a "Ski Patrol" area that was much more suited to them.

When they could do "Thrill Rides" they still preferred BB since they seemed to have more of those.

Now we are back to TL because that is my choice and the DD's don't care as much about the thrill rides - been there done that and the surf at TL is bigger.
