If anyone sees my other posts you might think I'm crazy b/c we had finally decided on xmas week. But summer keeps pulling at me and I'm thinking about ways to spend 5 nights/6 days enjoying WDW with avoiding the heat - ha. I HATE the heat.

This would be the last week of August.

What are crowds even like at Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon that time of August (I have no idea what the pros/cons are at each park - would have to research that). Is it not even a great idea b/c the threat of lightening? Can we buy tickets day of for somewhere like that?

My crazy mind is thinking - 1 or 2 resort days, 1 water park day, 1 HS studio day for the boys while the girls go to MK, and maybe a Halloween Party or second park day - probably Epcot. Or maybe finally doing babysitting and hubby and I going to F&W???

I'm so crazy - now I get why my husband won't listen to me anymore. At least I have you guys ;)

The last week of August is great for crowds. Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon shouldn't be too bad, especially if you arrive at opening (10:00). Crowds tend to peak early afternoon, but lines aren't nearly as long for the waterslides as they are for popular theme park attractions.

If you were getting a Park Hopper ticket, I'd suggest upgrading to a Park Hopper Plus. It's a very marginal increase in ticket price, and you get multiple water park and miniature golf entries, depending on your ticket length. However, since it sounds like you'll be doing a 2-day Base ticket, I'd just go ahead and purchase tickets at the water park's gate. You can definitely buy the day of. If it storms, they'll clear people out of the water. But Orlando storms tend to be short-lived, and if you wait the half hour or so, you'll find the park really empties out, and it can be a boon for your visit.

Great idea to incorporate the water parks in August--especially if you hate the heat!

The Halloween party is fun, though it's difficult to feel as much in the spirit of the season when it's so hot. Definitely make sure you wear a light costume if you do decide to attend MNSSHP.

I hope this trip works out for you! We all understand your craziness here. :D

We did a 5 day/4 night trip in September which was so hot! We knew what we were getting into ahead of time though. We did a full day at Typhoon Lagoon, 3 half days in the parks, and spent a ton of time at the Poly pool. We loved it, and are thinking of going back at the end of July (have to do summer now because of my job). Yes the heat is miserable, but the crowds are low and we had a blast relaxing and spending so much time at the pool and TL. We also used off brand (from Amazon) frogg toggs and they were a life saver in the parks.

ah - never really understood the park hopper plus option! i'll look into pricing options and maybe do a 3 day park hopper plus. we love to end the nights in epcot. so maybe 1 water park day - epcot evening, 1 hs/mk day - maybe epcot that evening for hubby and i, and one more park day. oooh - just opened me up to a new level of planning!

on the day you go to the water park and hop to a park in the evening - do you make your FPs for that evening park with no issues?
