Water Parks In October?

Does anyone here go to the water parks in October? We were trying to decide if it is worth getting the water park option for our trip.

People go to water parks year round, but no guarantee as to what the weather might be like, so best to wait until you get down there and if it's warm enough for you..go for it.

Keep in mind that usually at that time of year, only one of the water parks is open. You can double check the park hours page to see which one is open during your vacation dates (http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/calendars/?asmbly_startDate=20100531&asmbly_endDate=20100610)

Both water parks are open during October. Park hours will be 10:00 TO 5:00.

The water temperatures (except for Shark Reef) are kept in the low 80's. Daytime highs are still in the 80's, so there is no reason not to go to the water parks, especially if it will be a sunny day.

We've been to WDW several times in October - it's our favorite time to go!

In 2006 we didn't go to the water parks because it was too chilly. In all our October trips that was the first time I remember it being that cold. We did go in 2008 (Typhoon Lagoon because Blizzard Beach was closed) and the weather was great. We got to the park at opening and got chairs by the wave pool. It was a fun - and tiring! - day.

We've been in October and plenty of people were going but we've never been. I would call to check to make sure that they are open, because I distinctly remember one of them being closed for yearly refurbishment.

One of the parks closes for refurbishment in Nov and Dec (the Disney website says it's TL) and one closes in Jan and Feb. And I would definitely trust anything Cheshire Figment says about the water parks because he works there (at TL, I believe).

We went last Oct and the temperatures were in the 90's - so a lot of people do go in Oct.

We went to BB in Oct. it's usually in the 80's. It was super busy when we went.

When I clicked on the link to the parks hours fro our October trip 2-9, it gave hours of operation for Blizzard Beach but not Typhoon Lagoon. Does this mean that TL will be closed ?? Because if it is, I am not sure we would spend the extra money for the WP&M option. Can we add this option when we get there ?? We are staying off site.

The internal calendar currently shows both water parks open through October 31, with TL down for annual rehab starting November 1.

Personally I think there is a mistake, as October 31 is a Sunday and normally, beczuse of the way staffing assignments are set up, the rehab always starts on a Sunday.

I think when we go in October I am just going to buy tickets w/o the Waterpark option and set aside the money to add it if the weather looks good for it, since you can do that at the gate. I'd hate to spend $300-plus for the six of us and go during a rainy or cold week.

Agreed! It is funny how people think October, and even September, are FALL and will be cool. Not true at all in central Florida.

October's a great month to visit the water parks! Last year, it was 94 degrees almost every day we were there, but other years it's been in the 80s. Either way, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are tons of fun!

If you are only planning on doing 1 waterpark and NOT doing DQ or golfing, the WP&M option is NOT worth the extra $$. It is less expensive to just purchase the one day ticket (because you can also find discounted tickets) rather than purchase the add on. However, if both parks are open and you are planning to do both parks, or are also planning on DQ or golf, it is less expensive to buy the WP&M option.
