We will be going to WDW the first week of December and my DS8 is DYING to go to one of the water parks. Has anyone gone this time of year? I have looked at past years' schedules and know that only one of the parks is opened. Will it be as packed as in the summer, will a 1 o'clock arrival work (do they get full and close the parks), and is 3 hours sufficient? Please advise!

We go to WDW every year the first week in Dec. Last year we didn't do any of the water parks because the weather was not great (I'm from the Virgin Islands and it has to be really warm for me to go in the water :D).

Anyway......in the past, the water parks were not crowded at all. I think arriving at 1:00 pm should be no problem at all. I've never seen them get so full that they have to close the park. Barring chilly weather, you should have no problem going to a water park during your visit.

We go every year in Dec/Jan and this year was the first year it was warm enough to go to a waterpark. I think 1:00 will be fine. Hopefully the weather will cooperate!

We went in December of '01 and the weather was borderline hot. We enjoyed the water rides, pools, and water parks immensely. I hope to do the same this year!

Erin :D

We went one year in march and the weather was freezing but we had to do the water park. We had fun, it was empty and the best thing was the water was heated. So go anyway, it's not that bad, we just spent alot of time in the lazy river.

The water is heated and there are definitely fewer crowds in December.

In the past it has always been Blizzard Beach that is open in early December, and Typhoon Lagoon has always closed 1 November till mid December.

It looks like they are swapping the two for this year and Typhoon Lagoon will be open in early December!!!

In December 01, the weather was great and swimming in the pools and water parks was very possible.

In November 02, the weather was a bit cool, but my diehard teenagers went to Blizzard Beach which was heated and even swam in All-Stars pool which was not heated.

In December 02, it was quite chilly, but Blizzard Beach was open, and there were folks in the pools at Ft. Wilderness.

My DS8 has been very persistent in adding this to our touring plan...your answers have made me see this can be a great time for me as well! (My DS would be an L Street Brownie if we were still in MA!). My question now is (and I will post on the transportation board as well)- is there a Disney bus that travels from Epcot to Typhoon Lagoon (I am hoping they are changing the rehab as well) during the middle of the day? Otherwise, what are the options of getting there? Thanks!!!

I don't think there is a direct bus from any of the theme parks to the water parks.

Your best bet from Epcot would be to walk to the Beach Club from International Gateway and then get a bus to Typhoon Lagoon from Beach Club.

Another option for transportation to the water parks is to take the monorail from Epcot to the TTC and get a bus there.
