They usually close one and then the other during this time for lack of demand, they are really expensive to operate, doesn't surprise me really.

Yeah, one is always closed anyways, and the demand just isn't quite there during this time. It was always a nice option to have, but I think their use was rather limited to begin with during this season.

The Disney water parks are closed. Aquatica at Sea World and Volcano Bay at Universal are open.

We did Volcano Bay in July. It was probably the most uncomfortable part of our trip. I think people were only wearing masks when they entered, well some, and when ordering food/in shops. I think they were supposed to wear them in the bathrooms/locker rooms, but I rarely saw this happen. Employee compliance wasn't very good there either.

Island H20 Live is also open, but they're currently weekends only until Thanksgiving week.

Does chlorine create lifeguards or something? Because the issue is that no college program means there's a lifeguard shortage.

They could always hire people, all lifeguards are not cp kids, they have lifeguards working now. Disney is just choosing what and when to open. There are lifeguards working other departments right now

The waterparks likely aren't big moneymakers for Disney. They would prefer to keep the crowds at their theme parks, which are filled with gift shops and food outlets and appeal to a wider audience.

Yeah, I think the waterparks don't really make money, but they're Disney's attempt to keep people on property instead of shortening their trip to go to other water parks. I suspect the water parks themselves operate at a loss. Given what's going on now, it's smart on their end to keep them closed until water park demand really opens up again. Plus, as we mentioned, this isn't the season now for them anyways.
