Hi. We've never been to Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach. Which do you recommend? We've got two DDs.....DD8 loves all rides, DD1 is almost two. What are your experiences with TL and/or BB? Is one "better" than the other? Any and all info. would be appreciated. We are thinking about POSSIBLY including this in our upcoming August trip. Thanks.....

(I posted this in Theme Park Attractions and Strategies, but thought it would be helpful to post this here, too. Thanks!)

though I have not been yet, we are planning on going in october. from what I can gather typhoon lagoon seems better for little ones. the surf pool i think has two calmer areas and there is a great little kids area with little slides, fountains etc. and I believe there is also a raft ride that you can go on as a family and the river that you can float around the park in tubes that is 3 feet deep. your ds8 would probably like either one though. Have fun!

If you search on DIS, you will find arguments for one or the other. In September I am taking our twin DD5 to Blizzard Beach. (My wife and DS2.5 are doing a park hopping day together). I chose BB because from what I have researched here, you can monitor the under 48 area at BB better than Typhoon Lagoon (they can go where they with me sitting in one spot). Also BB offers a family raft ride, lazy river ride, and up to 3 people in a tube on one of the waterslides, a calmer wave pool than TL, as well as an awseome preteen area which is shallow except for the zip line. My DD5's have both taken swim lessons through the Y and are quite advanced, so I am hoping we can explore more of BB than if we would have if we went to TL.

We will do TL probably when all the kids (including DS) are old enough to swim with the sharks or do the surfing lessons there.

Search the posts here and you will get a variety of opinions, but it will give you an idea of what to expect.

We liked TL better. The family roller coaster water ride was great. The wave pool is incredible.

I think your one year old will like BB better, as will you because it's a calm, enclosed area. We went there when our kids were almost 3 & 5. The little one had a lot of fun in the kids area. Our 5 year old was sort of in between the "baby" area and the preteen one, so it wasn't the greatest for him, but your 8 year old will probably like the area for older kids. Adults can also do the stuff there.

We have been to TL with the kids a couple of times, and the kids area is larger and undefined. There are a lot of spraying things that the bigger kids control. I thought it would be easy for you to lose your kid there also, especially if you have 2 and they go in different directions.

It sounds like you will need to split up at times, no matter where you go. Just expect and plan for it. Set up a home base in the kids area.

Well, I've been to both and really enjoyed TL better. The kids area is sort of shady, and it's tropical and we can do some family things together. The surf pool, the lazy river, and the family slide. But I know people with older kids like Blizzard Beach better because the slides are more exciting. I think it's a matter of taste.
