We are going in May. My DH swears that going at 10AM is too early and the water won't be warm. He says to go to a park in the morning first and then go to the water park mid-afternoon when it's hotter. Of course I tell him it will be too late and what if we don't get a locker. Then he says we dont' need a locker and we can put our towels in a backpack and take the backpack on water slides... I think he's lost it or something because that's crazy right? You can't take a backpack on a water slide can you.

Anyhow, the water isn't too cold at 10AM is it? Is it better temperature wise to go in the afternoon?

"Cold" is a relative term. We are from Wisconsin and would have no problem with a water park at 10:00am unless it was really unseasonable cool. The days really warm up fast and it would not be unreasonable for the temp to be 70 or more by 10:00 and raising fast.

As for towels, you do not need to rent a locker - we never have. I have a small waterproof case for money and ID's and we really bring nothing else of value into the park. Will bring in clothes, sunscreen, goggles, and maybe some snacks in a small bag. We find a nice spot to leave our towels and the bag and then hit the water. That said, many people will rent lockers for valuables and to put a change of clothes in.

You will not be allowed to carry a backpack on any of the slides. All they will allow are the small waterproof cases or pouches that are worn around the neck.

Can't stuff get stolen? Well I guess if we just take a cheap backpack and some beach towels it's not a big deal. We plan to put the money, tickets, room key in little pocket in DH's swim trunks.

But anyhow, how much do lockers cost? Do they really run out of lockers (if it's not a typically peak season). Do you skip lockers to save money?

The pools are heated to 82 degrees. In May you should have beautiful weather. Get there when it opens or you may find yourself waiting till it reopens due to capacity after 2:30.
