Water Park Questions

I haven't been to a Water Park since my teen was in diapers. We're headed to WDW next week by car for a 4 night stay. I had planned on Typhoon Lagoon the day we check out, leaving the park around 2pm to begin our drive back home, but it dawned on me that it's Memorial Day -- what was I thinking! The only alternative is to try and get there in time the day we check in (the Thursday before Memorial Day Weekend).

To seasoned veterans of the Water Parks:
-Is a morning Memorial Day visit a suicide mission?
-How are the crowds lately for an afternoon visit (if we switch instead to Thursday)?
-Has one water park been more crowded than the other lately?

Thanks!
Cindy

The first waterpark we ever did was Typhoon Lagoon. It was so great! We went on a Monday and it happened to be Memorial Day. This was in 2002 and we got there at opening. There was a fair crowd already there but we didn't have much trouble getting chairs.

As the day wore on more and more people came but it never seemed that crowded to me. It was only later that I found out it was Memorial Day (someone happened to mention it) and I thought to myself "What lousy planning on my part. We're lucky this didn't turn out to be a disaster!" but it really wasn't a problem. There were lines for the slides - sure- but other things were easy to get to and use - the bathrooms, wave pool, food services, drink dispenser, Shark swim (you've got to do that- it's so fun), etc. It really was never that crowded and the crowds do ebb and flow. We stayed til around 6:00.

Best advice: get there before opening and stake out your spot first thing. Have fun!
