We are going to Disney in 10 Days and have a day long trip planned to Blizzard Beach... Ok... Will I be ok to wear a bikini??? Not a really skimmpy one but typical halter top and bikini bottom??? Or do I need a tankie and boy short or one peice?? Just wanted to know before I go flying down Summit Plummit and flash the world.. HA HA

ok, long past my bikini days (ok I never really had bikini days!!!). I've seen some impressive sights at Summitt Plummit. That slide can do very interesting things to swimwear. You might consider a more protected look for it. Perhaps a pair of board shorts you could put over your suit & maybe a tee-shirt too!! Holding everything in place can be difficult.

Pooch

If you're planning to do Summit Plummit, I'd go with a tankini or 1-pc suit. You may also want to consider a pair of board shorts to throw on over your suit just for that ride, since your suit bottom will inevitably be in a major "wedgie" when you get to the bottom of the slide.

Yeah.. I noticed Walmart had some cute board shorts and I thought that might be a good idea... I am going to have to get something like that... I was worried about the top coming off and the DBF has already warned me about the wedgie.... So you think a tankini and board shorts will be ok.... Good

You'd better post a picture of yourself in the bikini, just so that we on the DIS can make a more informed suggestion to help you in your dilemma.
:rolleyes1

My daughter, then 16, wore a bikini to TL two years ago and when going down one of the slides (no idea which) she put on a display that would rival Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras, if you know what I mean ;) . She said never again! This year, we will try very hard to find somewhat fashionable one piece or tankini suits. Not easy though...

I've heard that the most sought-after lifeguard posts for male lifeguards is at the bottom of Summit Plummet. I'd stick to a one-piece. ;)

My neice who is 24 wore a bikini down Summit Plummit and wore board shorts over her bikini bottoms and had no problems in the least and then she took off her board shorts when finished and was very comfortable. :thumbsup2

Glad I ask...... Wheew...... I might have given the someone a eye full... (Well maybe not)

As for the pic... Well thats no going to happen ..... But I have been working out just for this trip, to be fit and toned to wear a bikini and now I have to find something to cover up.. HA HA..... I made my goal of 129 lbs and hope to be 125lbs before the 8th of April...

26 Years old and never been to Disney... I am sooooo excited.. YEAH....

Trust me, you want more coverage than a bikini if you are heading down summit plummet. I'd wear board shorts and a t-shirt over your suit, at least for that ride. There are stories all over the boards about people who lost various parts of their bikinis on summit plummet. I myself suffered an extremely traumatic wedgie that has led to a self-imposed lifelong ban on that slide.

Just how bad is Summit Plummit????? I am rethinking going on it now.... I dont want a water inima (SP??) Is it really that bad.... :guilty:

I always wear a one piece to the Disney Water parks but many of the teens I went with last year wore tankini's they survived without any bad incidents.

Summit Plummit is similar to what it sounds like, a ride at a fairly steep angle that plummits down 10-12 stories, (I can't remember exactly how many). You can always look at it before you ride unless you get to the park early enough to be the opener for the day, that person shoots down summit plummit to open the park.

I'm sure my sister loves me posting this but I just have to...

After going on a slide much like Summit Plummit, straight down and fast, she got such a wedge (in a one piece even) that she umm, bled! She hurt for a few days. Not sure what went so wrong? I've never been on one of those slides and never will!

disneydream'n, don't listen to anyone here....a bikini will be fine, and as for the instructions that the lifeguards give you to cross your arms across your chest, well...thats not necessary either. ;)
Summit Plummit is really not THAT bad...but there is an incredible rush of speed and by the time you hit the bottom trough, you are moving pretty good...I've had an atomic wedgie wearing men's board shorts, so I can imagine most woman's swim wear will do the same. The slide is a lot of fun, and over pretty quickly...the view from the top is great. I guess if I were you (and female), I would be really cautious wearing a two piece. If you do chose to wear one (which I always condone :rolleyes1 ) just hold on tight to the top by keeping your arms tight across your chest.
Have fun!

I agree with the others about the swimwear.

I for one will NEVER do it again! I didn't lose anything, but talk about the ultimate wedgie - I couldn't run to the bathroom fast enough (and wasn't sure I'd make it - if you know what I mean). :rolleyes2

Why yes it is that bad. :thumbsup2 Now about that water enema hmmm. Just kidding. :rotfl2: It is a very fun ride but very fast, powerful and long. Everyone needs to try it once. My dh went down while carrying his money in his pocket but the force of this ride made all of his money fall out at the bottom of the slope. Here we are scrambling to pick up his money before the next rider came down. We just barely made it. Have a great time!

There isn't seating at the bottom of those big rides for no reason ! There is a show to be seen. Wedges on one end and sometimes mis-placed pieces on the other end. No matter what you wear, add on some board or nylon shorts, the slides can ruin your suit.

I will admit I wear a one piece and I bought one just for parks with a netted piece across the chest,
otherwise I would have loose girls :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Now being in a one piece isn't always safe.........read this thread and try not to laugh http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=509578&highlight=emmasgrammy :rotfl2:

We were at Blizzard Beach last week and while I didn't ride Summit Plummett, I don't think they will let you wear a t-shirt on the fast downhill type slides. The speed of the drop would cause the t-shirt to come up around your neck and possibly over your face. At least this was the case last year at Wet N Wild. I think if you wear a t-shirt to the top of the slide, they will make you take it off and hold it on the way down.

Good luck. You're more of a daredevil than me. There's no way you could get me on that thing! :scared:

I was hoping someone would post this. The first time I read it I thought I'd die laughing. I couldn't remember the name of the poster. Hope everyone reads it, it's hilarious.
