Water Park Protocol

So, I'm going to WDW for the first time in a couple of weeks and we are planning to take a day at a water park. It's just my husband and myself, no kids. My question is about the "basics" with the water parks. Do you wear your suit to the park or your regular clothes and then change when there? Do they allow you on buses and other WDW transportation in bathing suits (with a cover up)? Are there lockers/places to store belongings assuming I'm changing clothes? Is there anything else I should know? We were planning on wearing our Keens shoes as water shoes; does anyone else do this or recommend something different? I don't swim; should I stay away from certain slides or other things? Or just not go? Sorry for all these questions, I'm a little anxious about it!

I wear clothes over my swim suit or change when I get there. You're definitely going to want clothes to change into on the bus ride back.

There are plenty of lockers you can rent.

Swimming is not necessary.

1. We wear our suits with cover-ups for the ladies, t-shirts for the guys.

2. Yes, they allow you on the bus. Typically, the only people not "covered up" are small children.

3. Yes, there are lockers for rent. You can check allears.net for rates.

4. Re: Keens, I'm not sure what those are exactly, but many people wear water shoes.

5. When you say you don't swim, all slides dump into a pool of some sort. Not sure what you mean

On the bus to the water park, I wore my bathing suit and a cover up with flip flops. My DS7 wore his swim suit and rash guard shirt with sandals. We took sunscreen, our magic bands, a change of clothes for both of us and towels. We rented a locker and put all of our extra stuff inside. When we needed more sunscreen, we simply went back to the locker and put more on. There are changing rooms with showers, so we showered at the end of the day and changed our clothes.

Which park are you going to? At Blizzard Beach, there are some slides that do not end in pools - they end in a slide. Some of the slides do end in pools, however. If you can let us know which park you are going to, we may be able to give you a better idea of what you can go on. Can you doggie paddle? Stand in water? Or not swim at all?

Most of the slides dump into pools but I'm quite certain they are in the neighborhood of 4 feet deep so you shouldn't have any trouble. The only places you will find water over your head is the wave pool and Shark Reef. Shark Reef has life jackets right there and it's salt water so no swimming is necessary.

We always wore suits under clothes but you could change there if you wanted.

There are lots of lockers but we never had a problem leaving our stuff on our lounge chairs.

I always wear Teva water shoes so Keens will likely be fine.

Towels are available for rent at $2 each but you can bring your own if you want. I know there are kids sized life jackets available for use and i'm pretty sure there are adult sized jackets also but I'm not certain.

Can we bring the towels from our resort pool (YC) instead of packing our beach towel from home or will we need to bring our own towels? Trying not to pack our entire house! We've never done the water parks so wasn't sure about the towel situation.

If you can't swim, I don't see the point of going....Maybe just to site see? All of the slides dump you out in a pool. I guess you could do the lazy river though, just grab a float and let the river take you around.

I can't swim and I can do all of the slides.

Most of the slides dump into waist deep water and you walk out. The wave pools could cause an issue if you want to go in deep, those waves are strong. But go in a foot or so, sit on the ground and it's fine.

We never took towels, we just dried off walking around.
