Do you actually "sit" completely on the tube and float along the Lazy River which IMO is what the Lazy River is DESIGNED for or do you put the tube over your shoulders and walk through the Lazy River while leaning on the tube?

I have to admit I do not understand walking through the Lazy River,to me it takes the LAZY out of the Lazy River!lol :)

I like to try and snag those chair tubes where you can sit in them so your butt and legs are in the water.
Yes,that is what I meant-I changed the wording in my post.

We always "sit" in just a regular tube and completely float while lots of folks come "walking" by with their tube over their shoulders and under their arms.

When it gets too crowded in one area I’d grab my tube and push ahead otherwise it’s me and pleasant thoughts rolling by.

I change it up a lot because of how a bad neck. I find sitting in the tube is challenging because there is no neck support. I prefer to wear a lifevest and sit on a pool noodle to move through a lazy river, since it gives me the best suppot and it allows me to be in the water. Unfortunately, a lot of places don't allow you to use anything but their tubes.

Apparently one of the lazy rivers at Volcano is super fast and everyone has to wear a life vest . No tubes , you just bob along in your vest.

I sit in a lazy river tube and float along. I have to take it to a shallow area to be able to get myself in it though! I find it annoying when groups walking in their tubes come pushing by. It upsets my peace!

Yes that is correct. It's not really 'super' fast, but faster than lazy. The jets at the edge that push it along can push your bathing suit bottoms if you don't watch out.

Both…

If crowds are light and it’s a slow current river, sitting in the tube is the way to go. Although, it is uncomfortable after a while due to the lack of neck support.

If it’s crowded, it’s better to put it over your head with your legs coming out the bottom. It can get pretty dangerous if the current takes you into a crowded bottleneck and you’re stuck on top of the tube. The same can be said for some of the “not so lazy” swift current ones/ones with rapids…especially if there’s deeper water. You can use your legs to help steer in those sections.

It depends on the conditions like current and crowdedness.

When we did a float trip on a lake (so not a lazy river but everyone is in a tube) you really needed to sit in the tube because the water level was never high enough to do it otherwise however some parts you kinda had to work harder to get going because the current wasn't enough.

In another lazy river I've been in it was too crowded to sit it in for long because everyone was running into each other with their legs and hands, you started seeing people change it up and try and get more distance.

In Mexico we did a river at Xcaret park similar to what someone mentioned with Volcano Bay where you had life jackets no tubes and the current took you along. That one at times you had to use the ropes along the wall to either push you further along to put some distance between you and others or to push you along because the current wasn't strong enough. Some parts you could just float along in relative leisure.

I do think another condition is temperature and sun. Keeping yourself cool may mean putting it around your shoulder but that doesn't mean you are touching the bottom with your feet.

.

I was once stuck in a bottleneck on a lazy river and unfortunately my view and proximity was that of a gentlemen's nether region in a Speedo that was much too small for him while spread eagle. It was an awful minute or two!

So, in another tube incident, anyone who was fallen off one of those tubes away from the steps knows how hard it is to get back on top of one. Well, last summer I was going down a rapids ride in one of those tubes and was attacked by a bird and while defending myself I fell off the tube and went down half the ride on my butt, being scraped up from the bottom of the rapids. When I finally got to a calmer part of the ride I tried to get back on the tube. I honestly do not know how I did it but I managed to get back on to complete the rest of the ride. I was so scraped up on my knees, butt and elbows from bouncing along the bottom. Apparently, after the fact, we found out there was a bird's nest along the route and a few people were attacked by the mamma bird as they went by. My poor granddaughter didn't know what happened to me when I didn't show up right behind her. She had my hat and sunglasses which came down without me and couldn't figure out where I was lol.

Dangerous on a lazy river tube? At a waterpark? Never felt that.

Or are you talking about an actual river.

It's a mood thing with me whether I hop all the way up/in or just go partway through and dangle my legs.

I also expect it's hard for people with some body types to get all the way in.

No, it’s a few water parks we’ve experienced. We have one locally where traditional lazy turns into rushing and turbulent water. We saw another on vacation one year where the current sped up and narrowed at the same time, causing bunching log jam conditions.

The only lazy river I have ever been through is Holiday World. The only way to do it is sit in the tube and ride through. The water is not deep enough to do it any other way.

I have not been in a lazy river for probably 15 years - I haven’t been to any water parks.

For Me….Sitting/laying on top of the tube would be most relaxing for me ::yes:: 👍🏻
