I'd like to know you experiences on this. We are going during the first week of January and are seriously considering going to a water park. Is this a good idea?

Although the water is kept at 72 degrees, the air may be to cold. Last year was our 3rd coldest winter and some nights it got down in the low 30's. Most days when we went to the park we were dressed in layers, and we had just moved down from Michigan so we were used to cold weather. I would bring your suits but be prepared to plan something else for that day.

In January, Typhoon Lagoon will be the only water park open. We go every January, but have yet to make it to a water park. We had AP for the last few trips, and they didnt include the water parks. If you had weather like we had this past January, you better bring your ice skates!! hahaha We have had hot trips in Jan ( upper 80's) and very cold trips in Jan ( woke up one morning and it was 28 degrees. that was this year). The parks close very early in January too. If you are going for a long trip and you have nice weather, Id do it. If you are there a short time, I personally wouldnt waste a day at the water parks. Id rather do the theme parks if I only had a few days, but thats just me.

We're going Jan 14-19 and hoping for 1 day of warm weather for a water park. Being from upstate NY, I think low 70s would be good enough for us!
Read somewhere that the rehab schedule might switch and BB would be open in Jan??

We went in Jan of 1999. The water was warm enough, about mid 70's I think. However once you were wet, the only comfortable place was in the water. Walking to the top of some of the slides was cooool. Also they had closed the shark reef, which was not posted anywhere until the entrance of Typhoon Lagoon. Of course what is a mom to do when she has already talked this up to her then 6yo and hired a babysitter for the baby??? Felt cheated, but went anyway. Of course no reduction in price either. My advice....watch the weather channel and pick out the warmest day for your trip and call ahead the morning of to make sure everything is open. Have fun...we did.

We were at WDW 12/29-1/11 this year and DID go to a water park(Typhon lagoon) This Jan TL will be down for rehab as they switched with BB. BB will be up and running in Jan. The weather can be iffy in Jan but you may get lucky. Just keep a close eye on the weather and if you hit a hot day go for it!
