I noticed something mentioned on another thread about MK having an extra hour on 9/19 & mabe this being because of the closure of the water parks.SO I duly checked with Disney's website & shock horror BB is closed for 5 days out of the month(mainly FRi & SAt) & TL for 6 days(Sun &Mon),What's going on? We've been in Sept a few times & they've never been shut before!
Our itinery has been in the planning for 18 months & now it has to be changed! Not very impressed

Sorry to hear this. I'm not sure what the reason is, but I can say this - the waterparks were both very busy the final week of August. We waited over an hour to ride Summit Plummet and Slush Gusher. I guess they must be expecting a big crowd drop-off or something. You could call Disney and see what they say about it.

Actually - consider it better than it could be. When we were in Disney in 1997 - Sept 20-27th - Blizzard Beach was closed the whole time we were there. And that was of course before the tourist drop off of Sept 11th.

So, in the grand scheme, I just keep telling myself - it could be worse.

Why change your whole schedule, just go to the water park that is not closed.
The last time we went in the end of September, the water parks were not too bad during the week. They opened at 10:00 we got there when it opened and left around 1:00 or so after having done everything we wanted to do.
You should be fine

We have considered changing that day to BB but we had planned it so that after 2 hectic days(MK & MGM) we would have a quieter day at TL.My main concern with BB on that day is a) it's the only Disney waterpark open that day! & b) out of the 2 it's not very relaxing-an awful lot of stairs to Summit Plummet!
I realise something is always going to be "closed for our future enjoyment",we,ve never managed to do River Country, but as BB is going to be closed for refurb the end of Oct,it obviously can't be that!If it's a numbers thing then I think they are out of line, people are still spending their "hard earned" for less!
I apologise if i appear to be whingeing but WDW is the one holiday that the whole family talk about for months & months before hand & on top of Disneys cuts their arch enemy has cut their hours as well!!

Perhaps they are booked for private parties? Most likely though, it is just to cut costs. I don't know why they would chose weekend days to just leave one waterpark open though - odd. You are right that whichever one is left open will be more crowded that day. This March, BB was left closed for "extended refurb" through our vacation. I think it was to cut costs though. The hotest day our week found TL packed! There wasn't a spare chair to be found at 10:15am. This was a Wed. That Sat., with still only TL open, was just alittle cooler, and we nearly had the park to ourselves  ! We stayed the entire day and enjoyed ourselves so much. Totally made up for Wed. Wish I had a crystal ball and could tell you which day would be your best bet.

my fiance is a CM at BB, they are closing due to a "smaller crowd" now that school is back in, the parks are closed at different times so that one is always open. It is really a cost cutting measure but they did it last year too. I don't think the crowds have reduced that much but who am I to question the money-men/women at Disney. Hope that helps.

We've never been in September, but when we went in March once, they had the same scedule, where the waterparks were closed 2 days a week. I'm sure it's not as warm in March though as it is in September, but March is peak season so if they find it cost effective to do that in March, I'm sure it's a good move in September too.

They do this every year!last yr it was worse as BB was closed for a longer period then usual because of major rehab
making TL very congested!!!!
