Water Park Cabanas vs Reserved Chairs

What is the cancellation policy on the chair rentals? I am not concerned about getting "free" chairs when we go at opening, but we are planning a waterpark afternoon and am worried about spending too much time looking for chairs. Normally, one chair would be enough for us to throw our stuff on and then we are gone - off and running. But I find as I get older, I need more "chair time" to rest after that wave pool at TL! LOL! Anyway, weather is always an issue and I don't really want to be out $40.00.

We did the reserved chairs in September. We thought it was some of the best money we spent on the entire trip. We got 2 lounge chairs and 2 sand chairs. I don't think the 2 sand chairs would be very comfortable for 2 adults for very long. We loved being in a roped off area without people walking by.

We brought in a soft sided cooler with water, etc. It was no problem but security did ask us to open the cooler on the way in so they could check what we had.

I believe the cancellation period is 48 hours but I could be wrong about that. There was also something about Disney cancelling for weather. Maybe just if they close the park?

I'm considering the reserved chairs option for our Sept. Trip to BB. 2 Adults 1 Teen. Do you get to pick the section or is there only one section in the park they offer this service?

If you leave in the afternoon or for a rain shower and come back later do you still have your reserved spot (chairs or cabana?)

Has anyone left the park and come back? Is the reservation for the whole day even if you leave?

We've never done the waterparks before but are thinking about either TL or BB for May esp since we don't know if the Poly pool will be ready by then. I like to sit out in the sun and dh under an umbrella. The photos Ive seen of the reserved area seem to be very shaded throughout. Does the area get sun ? Is it the same at BB ? I may start a new thread on this but am I correct that the "pool" area is calmer at BB than at TL?

Unless you plan to spend a lot of time just sitting in the shade there are plenty of chairs for free. We spent most of our time on the rides or hanging in the lazy river (BB) We went late June, got there about 45 minutes after park opening, found plenty of loungers in shady area (we only "reserved" with our stuff 3 for our family of 5 as we figured we wouldn't all be out of water at same time). The chairs in sunny areas were actually harder to come by until afternoon! The food areas were never crowded and neither were locker areas. Just be aware that the Brazilian tour groups can take large chunks or areas and can be obnoxious!! Wish Disney would set limits on their behavior again!

this sounds great-I updated my AP to include the parks. I need to sit to eat and rest(single traveler) and this sounds more viable than a cabana. thank you, you helped me out for next week. :flower3:

As a PP said, "worth" is something only you can decide. For our family, it's ABSOLUTELY worth it. We tried it for the first time last year at Blizzard Beach. It was to be our one big splurge for the trip. Later in the trip we decided to cancel 2 TS meals in order to justify getting one on our Typhoon Lagoon day. We did park open to close both days, and having all day shade, all day water, all day soda (refillable cups are included), fresh towels, a locker, and best of all, cushioned lounge chairs to kick back on was heavenly. The kids can "go go go" almost all day, but even they appreciated having a little quiet time to recharge.

4under4 would you suggest a certain number cabana? We are interested in trying this out for April.

At Blizzard Beach we had Patio 8 and it was a great location! Very shady and central. At TL we had Beach Comber Shack #7 and we didn't like the location as much (right by a set of stairs), so we had to keep the "reserved" rope up most of the time as people didn't realize it was a reserved area without it. The people next to us had it better as we were a "first line of defense".

So we are planning a couple of water park days for our trip in July. We are not morning people generally. We probably won't get to the park until at least an hour after opening. Should I reserve chairs? I would hate to be without chairs. We plan to eat lunch in the waterp parks as well so it would be awful not to be able to find a place to sit.

Where were you in the park? There are two clusters of Beachcomber Shacks at TL. The first is in the southern end of the park across from the lazy river near the Umbrella area. The second cluster is more spread out but overall nearer the wave pool at the northern end of the park. We're wondering which area is better and whether we'll be able to request a certain Beachcomber Shack or at least a general area.

The two straight chairs in the $40 reserved seating area must be a new thing? We did this in 2012 and it was not included at the time, and I'm having trouble finding info online that says this is included. So must be new or maybe available by request?

The extras it includes are merely the fact that you have reserved seats -you can stroll up at any time during the day and check in for it, and be guaranteed two loungers together in a place that's not so quiet. You're also guaranteed an umbrella and small table, and they give you towels which you normally have to pay for or lug from your hotel. You're paying for the luxury of reserving it, along with the convenience.
We did it at TL Memorial Day 2012 and had both. We also did it at BB the year before and had both. Maybe they just neglected to set yours up, or someone "borrowed" them :(

And to answer OP, we thought it was totally worth it to know we had a shady spot and not have to worry about someone moving our things if we were gone too long.

We were over by the wave pool (if you look at the block of "Bs" we were probably the rightmost one). We liked the location in general as the kids could easily go to Grushin' Gusher & the Wave Pool. I just didn't like being on the end. It never hurts to ask, though I know it does depend a little on how many are rented. If only a few, they put them all together - and they are prepped before park open - so the same attendant has them in a row. In any case, at least ask for a little seclusion and you should be fine.

We have reserved the chairs several times in the last couple of years. We made 3 reservations last summer (2 at BB, 1 at TL). We got 2 lounge chairs, 2 sand chairs, an umbrella, a small table, 4 towels, and a locker. You can rent one set for up to four people. Everyone gets a wristband. The area at both parks is only supposed to be accessed by those with wristbands, so it is fairly low crowds. There is an entrance to the lazy river nearby at both parks.

For us it was worth it. We'll be doing it again this summer.

I spent the day at typhoon lagoon today. I inquired about the lounge chair rental. You do get two loungers and two chairs. Plus towels. When we decided to go from 12-5 , it never entered my mind we wouldn't find loungers. They were all taken. There were hundreds of the chairs empty. We decided not to pay the extra, but boy those chairs are not comfortable. We will be arriving at opening tomorrow.

If you do the chair rental, where is the locker you get?
It is one of the lockers that anyone can rent when they walk into the park. It is just included in the chair rental price.

Is there map somewhere that indicates the location of the reserved chairs at BB? I assume its different from the Polar Patios?
