We will doing WDW with a large group, and none will be purchasing hopper/option add on. Can we still go to the waterpark for a one day/single entry oop? Is there a cheap way/deal to do a 1 day as opposed to purchasing the whole add on which we will not have time to use? Thx

If you want to go to a water park twice, the park hopper plus pays for itself and saves you money. It also allows you to hop whenever you want and play mini golf every day :)

we always get it. Allows for more spontaneity and rest time

Last time I went to WDW with my large group, we did not purchase the Water park option because we realized that it was cheaper to purchase just a one day ticket for everyone.

Not sure when you are going or which waterpark you want to go to but... Look into H20 Glow Nights at Typhoon Lagoon if they bring it back. They haven't announced dates for 2020 yet.

It is a separately ticketed after hours event. Last year an adult ticket was $59. The party ran from 8pm-11pm, but you could enter at 6pm. Crowds after the 8pm start time were very light the night we went (7/20/19). By the time we climbed to the top of the slides, we'd have to wait for no more than 5 people ahead of us to go. Even Miss Adventure Falls and the aqua coasters only had lines a few people/groups deep at most. We also got all of the character meets done with the longest wait still under 10 minutes.

You can get the same deal through AAA for about $40 less;

Question for anyone that knows - what if I want to add on a 5'th theme park day? Can I do that once on-property at a big discount or will they charge me full price for that day?

If it's a standard base/ph ticket and not the 4 park magic ticket, the cost of the 5th day shouldn't be prohibitive, provided you still have a valid ticket.

We're toying with going from 4 to 5 days and I think the price difference is about 20 dollars or so (per ticket)

I wish that were true - but I checked with Disney and they don't discount the 5'th day if you buy the 4-park magic deal (it's a really good deal for 4 days). You also don't get a discount on the water park if you buy a 5-day park ticket.

The 4 Park Magic ticket cannot be upgraded to a 5th day without losing the discount, at which point you are paying the regular 5-day ticket price. You can add the Waterpark & NBA Experience option, but it will not give you an extra theme park entry day.

A regular 4-day Theme Park ticket can be upgraded to add a 5th day at minimal charge. The Hopper Plus option (hopping and water parks and golf) can be added to either a regular 4-day or 5-day ticket.

OP - if you don't plan or want park-hopping, it is less expensive to purchase a separate one-day ticket to a water park.

Enjoy your vacation!

I didn't check the link for what type of ticket you were looking at.

The 4 park magic ticket is a really good deal IF you don't plan on repeating any parks in a 4 day trip.

Yeah, I think we are all speaking the same language. The original plan was 6 park days, no hoppers, but then my DD6 really wants to do a water park. doing 5 park days plus a water park gets pretty spendy since 1 of those days is not discounted (that's how they get you). Could do 4 park days plus the water park and take a resort day. We've never done that. That's the cheapest option but I think my wife really wants 2 MK days. Another wild card is ROTR. If we don't get a boarding group we'd want to leave and do a different park and try again on a different day - thus park hoppers are back in play. Decisions, decisions...

I also need to see if I can pay for the AAA discount tickets using Disney gift cards (anyone know? Probably not). I can definitely use gift cards to buy the tickets from Disney so not much of a discount if I can't (quick check on one option was about 7% discount using AAA vs. 5% with my Target red card).

It says to pick up the ticket - but at a “sales location”. Does this mean at a AAA office, or at Disney world?

As others said, you can buy a one day ticket. That's the only way cheaper than Hopper Plus tickets. But if you decide you want to try both water parks, then I've always found the hopper plus tickets to be cheaper than buying 2 days worth of water park tickets on their own.

More research - this is no-go. When you buy from Disney, they will take Disney gift cards (obviously). When you buy from AAA they will not since you are paying them. I suppose AAA could use Disney gift cards to buy the tickets they are selling to you.

I agree that ticket prices are terrible now, but they’re not really “getting you” here. The 4-day magic is super discounted since it’s just a one-day-per-park ticket with no hopper. They won’t add another discounted day into that because it’s already suck a good deal (that being relative of course!!) Then there’s a 4-day standard which lets you choose the parks (HS twice if you want/need) but no hopper—that one is more. Then that same ticket with hopper is even more. You could add a discounted day to either of those. So they give you lots of options—you just have to decide what you’re willing to give up to save money. I miss the old “no expiration “ option.........
