Does anyone know the current prices for renting the little speed boats? I think the call them water mice?
Would like to put some money in the budget for that.
If I remember correctly, it was around $20-22 for a half hour rental at Downtown Disney. But I do know there are 10% discounts for AP holders, AMEX card holders, DC members, etc.
In October, my DS and I split an hour for $32 at the Poly. One of our favorite memories. And I think there is a Captain's Plan for around $199 that provides unlimited bike use, and lots of watercraft for four different drivers.
Hey Mark!
A quick hint, but be sure to check the horsepower ratings on the motors at different lakes. We first saw the water mice on the big lake (I forget its name but it's the one by Magic Kingdom and the Contemporary) and those water mice have 9 hp motors. They really zip around. We rented water mice at the Caribbean Beach Resort and they had only 3 hp motors. I think for the same price, you'd be wise to go with three times the power. The 3hp motors were realllllllly slooooooooooow.
The Seven Seas Lagoon Rentals are faster. They can really zip. but they are also alot stricter enforcing policies. My DS was 13 but quite small-since he did not meet they height requirement by 2"they would not let him drive his own boat and when there are two people in a boat they go alot slower. He was able to rent at the Carribean Beach Resort because they are not as fast. The problem is the Ferry also crosses Seven Seas Lagoon and when the boats are really motoring the front end rises out of the water you can't see in front of you if you are under 5'tall.
