Where all can you take them? Can you drive them from Bay Lake into Seven Seas Lagoon and drive around by the other MK resorts?

I rented one as some alone time while my husband stayed with our son a couple of years ago. It was great, I went over to the MK resort area around the CR, Poly, GF in front of the MK and over to where there is a deserted looking mini pirate ship in front of what used to be Discovery Island, I had a great time! :)

Sweet!!

We *must* do this. It's such a short trip coming up, but we want to enjoy the features of WL we won't get elsewhere. (Or at least not at AKL or BWI where we're staying this fall.)

This is one of my favorite things to do! It is so fun and so relaxing. I can't wait to take my 6 y.o. out this summer!

I agree, these are a must!!! My sister and I did them in December and it was so much fun to go over to the MK and just ride around. It felt like a true disney experience, if that makes any sense! I love disney and anything water so it was perfect for me!!!!

We also did this in December. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Something that we randomly decided to do and LOVED IT!

Don't forget to bring your camera along, you can get some great pictures!

It was soo fun! You may even catch a glimpse of an outdoor wedding at the POLY or the horse & carriage on the way to /from the wedding chapel!

I have seen both of these things as well as an outdoor commercial being shot at the "beach" of the GF!

FUN! :Pinkbounc

Give me some info one these. Like how much do they cost for how long, how old do u have to be and stuff like that

This sounds like such a blast!!! :Pinkbounc

How many do they hold? Two adults? One adult and one child? Or are they individual?

We'll be at WL July 13 to July 20! Just added a night -- now 7 nights/8 days! First two PS made! :cheer2:

Used to be a 250 lb weight limit, but the newer ones might now hold 300 lbs. All the MK resorts have faster watermice (the lake is so big is can accommodate higher speeds), but there are stricter age requirements. Since I don't have kids, I really haven't paid attention, but I believe it's 16 y/o and a driver's license. I know someone will correct this, if wrong. Non-MK resorts allow kids much younger to drive independently (~ 12 yrs old).

So, it will hold an adult and child or two smaller adults, although I don't usually see that. It's so much fun that each adult wants their own!

So if a 13 year old wanted one where should I rent from?

I believe that the non-Magic Kingdom resorts that are on a waterway (the Epcot resorts and those on the river to DD) have the slower watermice and have a lower age requirement. Those waterways are much smaller or narrower than Bay Lake and it would seem to me to be unsafe for the faster boats.

If the company that manufacturers the watermice has a recommended weight limit, for safety reasons, that's the determining factor. Is it mean to be safe? The reason the age limit was raised on Bay Lake is because of accidents and injuries of young drivers. This is a change within the last year or so. And, as I said, the weight limit might be 300 lbs on the newer watermice. I don't have this committed to memory.

So, if the weight limit is 250 pounds and the age limit is 16 to go alone. You had better have a very small 14/15 year old boy.
My son is 13 and weighs 130 pounds (he really doesn't look big because he is very big boned-really thick bones/stocky) and I weigh 135, which is a little more than I need to, but we couldn't go together?. So, I could go, my husband could go, my DD6 who weighs 48 pounds could go with us, but my son would have to miss out. This seems a little mean. What does Disney think people should do with kids between the age of 13 and 16 that are a little heavier, hope their parent is skinny?

It is not mean at all. The change only affects the Water Mice at the resorts on Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. A very serious deadly accident that involved young drivers brought the change. It should have happened years ago. On the Lagoon and Bay Lake you must have a licensed driver. On the other watersways your 13 can drive alone. The weight limit for the lagoon and Bay Lake in the new, faster, more powerful water mice is 300 pounds. So you can ride together at Bay Lake or Seven Seas or he can ride alone at another location.

We rent the mice each trip. Always rent at one of the MK resorts. I understand the need to limit the drivers to 16. Several years ago when 13 yr olds could rent the lake was full of kids that were very reckless and it did not feel safe. I'm surprised an accident did not happen any sooner then it did. There are now less boats on the lake, it is much safer and more fun not having to worry about all the kids that do not drive safely.

We love doing this. DH and I wish we would have tried it before our last trip, it is so relaxing and fun, you get to see a ton of stuff from your boat.

Was it cold riding the boats on the lake in December?
We are staying at the WL this upcoming December and I wasn't sure if was too cold to ride the water mice.
