Water Excursion logistics question

We are going on a couple of water excursions; a dolphin swim and a snorkeling excursion. What do people typically do with their stuff while actually in the water, specifically valuables and KTTWs? Do they have lockers for things?

Also, do we wear our bathing suits when we leave the ship or are there places to change? Also, will there be a change room attendant (or bathroom attendant) that will have to be tipped?

We're doing TT07 (dolphins on Tortola) and ST56 (snorkeling), if it matters.

.KTTW cards can get wet. My husband carries his in the little pocket in his swim trunks. I keep mine in a time-honored place of concealment for us ladies :rolleyes1

As to cameras - I have a waterproof point and shoot that never leaves my wrist, so it comes along for the swim. For our snorkeling in other ports, I just wore my swimsuit with a shorts and shirt over it.

Most dolphin things state "no cameras" - I would think they would provide SOMEWHERE to keep stuff safe, but I don't know 100%.

We wear swimsuit under clothes off the ship, card, ID and bit of cash goes in a small waterproof case worn round the neck, waterproof camera stays with us. Anything else just stays in a bag wherever we are told to leave it, but it's only towels, clothes, sunscreen, no valuables. Rarely take phones off the ship, if we do it's my husband's which is waterproof.

the dolphin places all have lockers. many wear their swimsuits under clothes as PP mentioned. never seen a bathroom attendant or anything close to that which would require tipping, though if you are going snorkeling on a boat, that is typically a tipping situation. you will leave your stuff on the boat when snorkeling.

I would say it varies A LOT by excursion, free lockers, rental lockers, no lockers. Changing rooms. No changing rooms. Leave your stuff locked on the bus, take your stuff with you because it will be a different bus. I saw all of these options during just three sets of excursions.

So you will have to inquire for your specific excursions, what they do/have?

As PP said above, KTTW card is waterproof, so I carried that and a Credit Card on my person even in the water. Cash is fairly waterproof too. My wife had a waterproof bag for her phone, which she used as a camera (but not on the dolphin excursion, Beth is right, no cameras there.) I left my phone on the ship on water days for my convenience/piece of mind.

We wore our bathing suits and brought a change of clothes.

We'll have a waterproof camera and I bought one of those Witz waterproof containers for cards, so hopefully, I'm covered. I hadn't thought of the KYSS bags. Would you lock it on the boat for snorkeling?

At the places where there are lockers, I assume I have a key to take with me. Do we have to have coins to use the lockers?

I'd lock it anywhere I think it would make a difference. If it is a small catamaran with only a few other small groups, I wouldn't worry about it. Once word gets out that crew members are stealing things they won't last. I also doubt your fellow passengers are looking for a crime of opportunity while snorkeling. now if it was one of those 30+ person boats, sure I'd at least lock the bag. But since its Disney I would concern less about it, but be sure to keep and cash well hidden or on your person.

Do you mind recommending a waterproof point and shoot you use?

Well I have a Panasonic Lumix. I chose it because it was on sale :teeth: But it works fine. I simply loved my Kodak point and shoot I had (well, still have, it still works), but it wasn't waterproof.

It's been a while since I used anything but my iPhone! Lol! We have an SLR but it's big and not with us often. Thank you!
