I need to be set straight...

First I read that you could not bring in any outside beverages, But I am seeing people post to bring in water bottles?

Can I bring water bottles inside DL or not.

Do you take empty ones and just fill them inside the park?

TIA

I've read that as long as you don't bring in glass bottles or cans (of soda or juice) or a WHOLE picnic that you can get away with bringing in water bottles and snacks. I plan to, $2.50 for a bottled water...no thanks. oh and another tip I've read is to ask for water (it's free) at the counter service places.

Its OK to bring water bottles into the park as long as they are in plastic.

The official policy is that you should not bring in food or beverages, but that policy is not enforced, at least as long as you are safe and reasonable. Obviously, you should never bring in glass or cans, because of safety issues. Sure, DL would like you to spend your money buying cold water from them, but I believe they care more about your welfare and want you to be hydrated. And are they going to stop you from bringing in baby formula? Where would they draw the line?

I have brought in water bottles, juice boxes, and light snacks quite frequenty, with never a bat of an eye.

OK so no cans or glass? Does that mean we can't bring in baby food? They are in glass jars. :confused3

Last trip my DH had the brightest idea yet- he wore his camelback full of icey water. Pure genius. And no hassle from anybody all day. Plus I carried in my Dr. Pepper.
Also, the camelback bag had 6 juiceboxes for the kiddos. We always take juice boxes and snacks for our kids.

I brought in a couple of cans of soda, no problem. Also, there shouldn't be any problem with jars of baby food.

We were just there a week ago and we were bringing in 20oz bottles of pop. Also in our diaper bag we had all sorts of snacks and glass jars of Gerber Graduates Fruit and things of juice and no one said a thing to us.

So I would think with water you should have no problems.

My DH and I always carry camelbacks at WDW. I was wondering if that would be an issue at DL but apparently it won't be. Our first trip to DL is in Nov. and I was planning on using them. I don't understand why more people don't use camelbacks at the parks.

As a guess from the UK, a camelback is a rucksack. A bag that has two straps through which you put your arms and carry it on your back.

We carry water bottles into the park all the time. With the price they charge for a bottle of Dasani, it's worth it to bring your own. We used to carry Nalgene water bottles, but found that they were taking up too much space in our backpack and stroller. Now we use we use collapsible water bottles that can be flattened to conform to small spaces and can also roll up when empty so it doesn't take up much room. It's great!

Here's what we use:

I have never heard of them, what are they?

Camelbaks are basically backpacks that hold water (like a camel's hump, get it?). Usually outdoors sportspeople (bikers, hikers, rockclimbers, etc.) use them, but I'm sure they're terribly useful for Disney excursions, too!

Go to http://www.camelbak.com for more info. :)

We brought baby food, and got free samples of Gerber rice cereal in the "baby room" right off main street behind the photo store. The extra cereal was perfect for us, and our DS decided to become "extra hungry" that trip.

Hey Munchkinsmom,
Those are SO cool! I have got to get some for our trip in Sept! What a space saver, we use Nalgenes too, but I agree with you...way too bulky!
Thanks for the tip!

You're welcome! We bought them at REI.

On my last visit in 2002, they checked to see if the water bottle I brought in had been opened, yet. Apparently, I was not supposed to bring in a bottle that had been opened before going in the park. I don't know if that was a fluke or not but plan on it being SOP, just in case.

As a funny side note, when we visited in 1985, we had just returned from living in Europe for 3 years, where especially as Americans, terrorism was already a reality. When we went through the gate at DL, they searched my moms purse and bag. She asked if they were searching for bombs (we had been searched at the Tower of London for bombs with everyone else a couple months before) and they said no- they were searching for food! We thought it was such a funny contrast to what we had lived overseas.

They were likely doing a spot check for alcohol. I was a ticket gate inspector for the olympic time trials this last year, and we had to check all water bottles and camelbaks for alcohol.

IF you are bringing baby food I would get the plastic ones for your trip to Disneyland. They are really inforcing "No Glass" I had a small bottle of purfume and they asked me to place it in a locker when they checked my purse.
On the other hand I bring food all the time and no one ever says anything about it:-) :earsboy: :earsgirl:
