For our June 4-9 trip, were planning on taking water bottles for me, DW, DD7 and DS4. The plan is to use them for water, for kool-aid (if we don't like the tap water), and to split up any large (and expensive) soft drinks we purchase.

Anyone have any tips/advice/criticism of this plan?

People take water bottles into the parks all the time.
If you want to want to do this, have at it.

we have done this on our last few disneyland trips. In fact, my entire backpack was filled with drinks and snacks - no problems with the bag screeners.

The only thing was that they got warm SO you may want to freeze a few of them to keep them cold.

The water at Disney does not taste good, and I drink tap water all the time. I advise getting some of the water flavor packets. They have boxes of like 10 packets of a certain flavor that are the perfect amount for a 20oz bottle. I get the great value lemonade from walmart myself.

Also, if you don't like the taste of the water at WDW you can get a Brita filtered water bottle. I think they still sell these; we haven't used one in a few years.

We also plan on bringing a few cases of water with us. Save here only to spend elsewhere.

Another option instead of packing the bottles & having to worry about them is just to buy a bottle of water down there & reuse the bottle. That's what I do if I need a bottle. Then when I am done with it or don't feel like carrying it anymore, I can just chuck it & not have to lug it around.

I am the Queen of Paking Light, so I like to save that extra space for something else.

Since we stay at DVC resorts, we have access to a refrigerator. We try and purchase a case of water bottles. If we are going when it is hot, we bring a couple bottles for our morning park visits. Then we usually go back to the rooms and relax, swim. Around dinner, we would grab a couple more and bring them to the parks.

Good idea. For cost savings, I might suggest buying those Crystal Light, Koolaid or Wal-Mart brand drink pouches and pouring them in to make the water taste better. You also don't feel like you are not getting anything yummy to drink.

You can order water from a place like Staples or OfficeMax and have it delivered to your resort. Usually, if you spend a certain dollar amount, you can get it shipped for free. :)

We always do this. We fill the bottle half full with ice and a little water in the morning and refill it with water cups form the counter service restaurants as needed. Its a good plan!:cool1:

We always take water bottles in with us - the only thing I would suggest is figure out HOW you plan to carry them. We are still at the point where we have a stroller and diaper bag so its easy, but if you won't be lugging all of that around pick something that will easily fit into whatever bag you carry

I am not a big fan of the water at Disney, however we use Brita water bottles and fill them up at a fountain etc....that way it is cold and the filter in the bottle makes it taste better ! :)

I'm personally a big fan of camelbaks (www.camelbak.com). They hold several hours worth of water, you can put kool-aid in them (a friend on my last ship always kept Rum and Diet Coke in his), and both mine and my wife's are integrated into backpacks with plenty of storage for cameras, wallets, sunblock, bottle of aspirin etc. . . And the water won't condensate all over the inside of whatever bag you are bringing.

You can find them at most sporting goods stores with the camping/hiking gear.

We brought a couple of the pure water 2 go bottles. Then we'd use the free ice water at the counter service to fill them! Worked great! Took the bad taste out of the water...and I didn't have to worry about my little ones drinking anything out of the tap water that their stomachs were not used to. Very convienent - just wore it around the neck on a langyard! Will do it again on the upcoming trip!

Well, if you are like me and LOVE soda, purchase one of the mugs at the resort you are staying at. They are about $12 (correct me if I am wrong) and you can refill them during your entire stay. I'm getting them for everyone in our family this summer.

We took water bottles in on our last trip, too...and it was a life-saver! We got the kind from the store that you can use on bicycles (they have covers and little velcro straps around them), so that we could attach them easily to DH's belt loop, the backpack, etc. And we do the same as one of the PPs...fill them half-way w/ ice and then half w/ water so they don't get too hot. I also took some of the Crystal Lite flavor pouches w/ me as well.
This time around, we'll also be taking another water bottle with just water in it to clean-up and mess our three-year-old might make!
