First, thanks to everyone on this board. :cheer2: It's been 2 years since I've been here (back when it looked ALOT different! :cool1: ) and now I'm heading back to WDW for the 6th time :moped: and I'm happy you're all still here with lots of great info!

Anyway, we used to take a wide mouth water bottle that had a long strap for carrying and an insulated cover to keep it cool, fill it with ice from the hotel each morning, and sip it all day. I cannot find anything similar anywhere! :rotfl2: I don't mind splurging on character meals and ice cream snacks, but $3 a bottle for water just doesn't sit well with me!

Any ideas?

Also, last time we were in AK then had drink lanyards that you could strap on any water bottle and carry them like a purse. Do you know if they still have them? Only AK?

Thanks again!

I highly recommend getting a Camelbak. We have one for every member of the family and they are great. My husband drinks about 1 1/2 to 2 gallons a day and the kids drink about 3 of those 16-oz sport bottles a day. We would be BROKE if we had to buy our water in the park. I bought the kids the small Camelbaks here:

They have the Skeeter model. It's smaller size (my kids are 5 and 8) but works great for them. I don't have to carry around water bottles and they have their drinks at their disposal. My hubbie has one that holds 2 liters of fluid but it's not a Camebak (we went cheap on his).

We are water snobs (we live in Tahoe and have awesome drinking water...city water makes us sick) so we bring bottled water everywhere. We plan on bringing a few of the really big, 1.5 liter Aquafina bottles full of frozen water and stashing them in a locker. Then, halfway through the day, when we need to "gas up", we will fill up the bladders in the hydration backpacks with the bottled water (which should be melted in the warm FL weather).

We did this down at DL a few years ago and it worked great.

Melanie,

DH has a camleback that he uses for biking.. the question I have is can you put icecubes in it along with the water? :confused3 He has had gatoraide in it too,, but it was not quite frozen. We will be camping in Oct at the fort so having ice is not a problem. :)

thanks

I have a Camelbak for skiing, and they are great. What I do at Disney is this. FREEZE your water bottles the night before, then put them in your backpack. They stay cold most of the day, but melt enough to drink pretty quick and the person with the backpack (always me) gets to have ice cold water bottles against their back all day long, which feels great! My Camelbak (snobound model) is insulated so it doesn't freeze up, but I took it to a local zoo here in NC on a hot day, and my Gatorade stayed cool all day, with NO ice in it.

We have used the same things you are talking about. I found them at Target. I think they were Igloo brand - they were insulated covers with a wrap-around freezy jell pack. It had a long strap so they could be worn over the shoulder/across the chest.

We would freeze the gel part each evening. In the morning, each child put the freezy in, added a bottle of water and we were off. Each child was able to carry their own water and drink it when they needed it. It really helped cut down on the expense of water and the having to stop for a drink.

Look for a Brita Fill 'n' Go at Target or Walmart. It is a sport bottle with a built in small filter. We loved it, but left it in the Tiki Room :sad2: It is nice to be able to refill it from the drinking fountains as you go and not lug around all that water.
