Water Aerobics????

Has anyone done water aerobics and have an opinion on it??? I'm trying
to decide if I want to try it and am wondering how hard it is and if anyone on here has seen results doing it.

I have not tried it. All I can relate to is when I do pool "running" to relieve the stress on me during my running/walking/wogging training season. If you do it with energy I would think you would get a good workout. DH's orthoped... doc always recommends pool work/swimming to him as a better way of getting exercise since it is less traumatic on the joints.

Do you have the opportunity to view what it is they do before you sign?
 
It is a class offered at the YMCA where I am a member, so there is no cost to it (except for my monthly membership fee). I was just curious about it.
They offer a bunch of classes and I am wanting to try several of them.
 
i have attended both deep water and shallow water aerobics classes. what is your current fitness level?

I really enjoyed the deep water class, and yes, you can sweat in a pool :teeth:

the shallow class was not quite as hard off a workout, but not every day has to be intense.
 

I try to aquacise once a week. I usually run on Sunday, Monday is either elliptical or bike, so my Tuesday aquacise class is always a nice break. My class is in the shallow end of the pool so we "cross country ski" "frog jog" and many other things. It's quite fun and it does get your heart rate up. You can do it at whatever intensity level you like. I always push to try to get a good cardio workout.

I'd say...try it once, see if you like it. Sometimes the instructor makes a difference too. I can only make the evening class, but where I go there is a different instructor depending on the time of day.
