Watching the (soccer) World Cup

We are from England and the World Cup Final is on our second full day and DH is really wanting to watch this (even though England probably won't make the final!). Would be fun if it was between the USA and England.

It will be in the morning in California accounting for time differences between there and South Africa and wondered if it was possible to watch it on TV ideally on a big screen? I was thinking maybe in DTD somewhere or possibly at our hotel (HoJo's).

If it was England playing then myself and DD would probably watch it too otherwise he's on his own and the girls are heading to the parks - alone.

In recent years World Cup matches are shown on TV in the USA - especially the final. But maybe not on major TV stations but on second level sports stations.

Here is what I would do:

1. When it gets closer check television listings in the USA - for example http://www.tvguide.com/listings/

2. When you arrive check if it will show on a network channel or sports channel like EPSN that you can get in your hotel room. I suspect ESPN or EPSN2 would carry it. BTW EPSN is owned by Disney and is the major sports network in the USA. But there are others.

3. If all else fails I would check with the ESPNZone in DTD. They have lots of sports channels showing. I would be surprised if it was not showing there.

Definitely ESPNZone in DTD if they are open when the games are on. Biggest TV screen you'll ever see! We watched the women's Olympic curling final there, and it was amazing how many people in the restaurant were following it!

All of the world cup games will be on ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC. At least ESPN and ABC should be available in your room depending on where you are staying and possibly ESPN2 in some hotels. I would think the ESPN Zone would be a good place to watch buy I doubt they would be open when most games are on live.

Since it is the morning US west coast time it may be delayed, maybe not all games but the semis and finals are more likely. If it isn't or you husband can find it and wants to watch it live he may need to watch in the hotel room. The ESPNZone is a lunch/dinner place, but probably the best viewing around. If he wants to take a cab ride there is no shortage of sports bars in the US if he needs a social place to watch.

I agree, the ESPN zone is a great viewing place for sports.
