Watching Sports on DCL

We are pretty big sports fans over here. It never really crossed my mind until now but how hard/easy is it to watch sports on a cruise? I can’t remember what the offerings were on my last DCL cruise, which was in 2006.

You can usually find some form of sports on the tvs in the bars, depending on what is available.

Big sports events can be found on FunnelVision if available

If there’s something you want to see specifically, the bartenders in the sports bar will do their best to turn it on. Some things due to broadcasting issues or licensing rights may not be available, but they really do a pretty good job trying to get what you want.

I have also seen them run sports at the Currents bar on the Fantasy. We have sat there for a while and watched ESPN.

Thanks! Is it solely ESPN/ABC or have they had non-Disney owned channels?

It can be spotty at times though, it's basically satellite TV (moving ship and all that) so it's subject to the same environmental factors as home sat. But they've usually got something on in those areas.

Bad. It's one of my most regular / constant complaints. I write it down on the comment card everytime.

Disney owns ESPN so you will get their 1~ 2 feeds, maybe tailored to the part of the world the ship is in.
So maybe you'll get an extra soccer channel.
That means you may not get NFL except Monday nites or whenever ABC/ESPN has rights.
Hardly any baseball at all (occasional Sunday evenings).

Actually awful.

What about March Madness?

Super Bowl will be all over the ship. Sports Pub, Family Lounge, Funnel Vision, stateroom tv. They also put out snack food even
in the Promenade Family lounge.
World Cup the same. World Series not so much. Was on the Wonder when NYM mets KCR and no body was interested. They did put
game 6 on funnel vision in the rain.
NASCAR no one was interested.
College football in the sports lounge.

Hoping to watch some of the World Series on the Oct 29 Dream cruise!

We will be on the Fantasy 10/30 to 11/6 during the World Series and Feb 5 2022 for Super Bowl. Looking forward to watching these big events on the ships.

Fantasy is awesome for that! I might have to book at Super Bowl Cruise too now. Ha! We've been on DCL cruises for both, but I forget which ships, and it's a great atmosphere. We place bets with our friends and family on the cruise-- no casino, we'll show you! Haha!

World Series has always been on (also league championships), 1 year had all the mets fans for jersey week watching which was always colorful.
With NFL most of the times they have the games on in the bar as well as your TV in your room. I would say the Wonder and Magic are better set up for getting almost all the NFL or College games going that they can find (more TVs) The Fantasy Bar is so small and less TV's and sometimes they cannot get what people ask for (there specific game). Never been on the Dream for Football Season but guessing alot like the Fantasy.
As for Monday night and Sunday Night Football I always remember those being on.

Also talk to your bartenders, they have the daily schedule that the ships entertainment person puts out on what there supposed to put on and when. This helps if you need to "Lobby" the people in charge to possibly find your game. Some bartenders know how to get things done and get your game on for you, others are clueless and wont be of any help (you figure this out right away).

I watched the Mets fans get all of the games on the TVs one night in the Fantasy bar, they had the Monday Night Game on all but 2 of the TV's and "Lobbying" started and next thing you know the games was on all of the TVs (except one).

I agree Disney is ESPN/ABC but on the water its international everything and ESPN International is much different in what they show vs USA ESPN from what I have seen and noticed travelling.

Hope this helps
