Please tell me about what to expect if we watch the MK fireworks from the beach. Any tips or hints would be appreciated!
Do they pipe in the music?
Should we bring towels to sit on?
:thanks:

Depending on when you go, blankets could come in handy. There are umbrella tables and chairs on the dock area and picnic tables and lounge chairs all along the beach. We've always gotten some sort of seat but I'm sure during a real busy time, you may have to sit on the ground.

They do pipe in the music, loud and clear. It's a great way to end an evening, or get ready to hop the boat to a late night EMH! It's best when Wishes is at 10, then you catch the Electrical Water Pageant at 9:45. When Wishes is at 9, you have to wait around for the EWP.

They pipe in the music and the voice. We went down twice during our stay and stood next to the fence just to the left of the boat dock. You can see equally well from anywhere on the beach. Some people did bring towels to sit on, but we chose to just stand.

Thank you for your responses. :wave2:
Sounds awesome, can't wait!

I would say the experience is just OK. Your view of the fireworks is obscured, and the quality of the sound system isn't very good. Once you see them from Main Street nothing else measures up. That said, it beats it beats not seeing them at all.

My daughter is highly sensitive to sound due to a concussion, so we sat at the beach to watch (MK would have been too loud for her). I am sure the fireworks are better to view in MK, but we still enjoyed them. Personally, it was one of the best nights. We sat on the lounge chairs with snacks and enjoyed the fireworks. It was so relaxing. The best part is once it was over, there were no crowds to fight through to get back. Have a great time!

This sounds great! A romantic night on the beach with DH, some cocktails and a show! I can't wait for our first trip ever to The Fort! :goodvibes

A glass of wine, a blanket (in case your can't get a chair). It was one of the most relaxing times of your vacation.
I agree that it comes no where near the experience in front of the castle. However, it is a different very nice experience.

One of the best benefits to staying at FW! They do pipe in the music and the view for just the cost of the stay at the resort is well worth it in my opinion.
You also get the electric boat parade as well, which floats by before the fireworks.
;)

I was there the weekend of Memorial Day and the following week. Not once did I hear the music as I had in past trips. Really missed it.

Music and sound quality was great this evening. We were waiting on our boat to pick the kids up from Cub's Den and watched the Water Parade followed by the Wishes firework show. Looked and sounded great from where we were standing!

One more question, how likely is it that we will need to spray ourselves with bug repellent, to watch Wishes from the beach in October?

We had mosquitoes last October at the Fort. I wasn't really expecting them, because we typically go in late November, and there aren't any then. In October though,we had quite a few near our site and some at the campfire/movie and on the beach. Definitely pack the bug spray! Compared to home (MI) it wasn't bad at all, but they were noticeable.

Okay, good to know. I will bring a citronella candle to use on the deck if we grill and some repellant spray in case the mosquitoes are around this year.

We'll be staying in the cabins in August. Our first time at the Fort:cool1:
We're so looking forward to the whole experience and especially watching fireworks from the beach.
I am assuming I will need bug spray in August at The Fort from this post?
I will pack some just in case:)

Mosquitoes are unpredictable at the Fort. They have an awesome bug control setup there, otherwise it would be mosquito heaven year round (I expect). But, heavy rainfall seems to get in the way of that control. It it rains a ton one month, you hear reports of bugs then next. The best bet is to be prepared. That said, I have never had to use bug repellants there.

As for the fireworks on the beach - don't count on any seats being left for you when you get there. Bring a bag chair, beach chair, or towel. I love seeing the fireworks on the beach. No crowds and no long trek back to camp - sometimes I think it is better on the beach than at the park!

We have been going to the Fort since it opened in early '70's, and the fireworks from the beach is not the greatest. They don't turn off the lights at the dock, so that really messes up things, and you can't see the ones that are lower. There's just no substitute for being at the MK when the fireworks are being shown. There's always a lot of people down by the docks (and we have gone ourselves a few times), but the trees have grown a lot in the last several years so we don't try it anymore. pixiedust:

We are at the Fort every year and have never seen bugs or been bitten by mosquitoes. We've seen "love bugs" but they are gone then and don't bite. Disney does a very good job of keeping the pests away - great pixiedust:
