So I heard fireworks tonight at 11:00 PM. We can usually hear (not see) the fireworks from Disney every night but this was louder. So I stepped outside and watched the fireworks at Universal Studios. (We only live 4 blocks from Universal.) They must have had a special event at Universal Studios tonight. What a nice surprise!

I know, I caught the end of them as I was leaving your house tonight. You guys do have a good view. I wish I could see fireworks from my front yard. I am so jealous!

They were purty, huh!

I just wish I could have heard the music too.

I can't wait until the cinespheres are in place. that's going to make for some incredible nighttime shows.

It was for the Travel Industry Association's "Pow-Wow" which is being held in Orlando this year. There are 15,000 travel agents in town so the "Big 3" are falling all over themselves trying to out-do each other. It was the biggest display I've seen since New Year's Eve...but I can't imagine the neighbors who always call and complain that the music is too loud on Saturday nights were too happy about it! :bounce:

Thanks clownboy, I was curious why there'd be fireworks at about 10:50 pm out of Universal this week since they are closing earlier than usual. I live across the street so sometimes I step outside and watch them. But I was feeling lazy last night but I probably should have. They lasted longer than those they had a few weeks ago.

They probably had a special event last night where a group rented out the park after hours.

Anything to do with this?

Fireworks Ignite At Universal Studios In Orlando

Three flatbed trucks used to launch fireworks at Universal Studios in Orlando caught fire near some hazardous materials, according to Local 6 News.

The Orlando Fire Department said it appeared there were some combustibles inside of a mortar tube from the theme park's fireworks display and it somehow ignited.

"By the time the fire department arrived out here, we are talking 4 a.m. in the morning, these three trailers were engulfed," Local 6 reporter Samantha Knapp said.

The fire was brought under control in about an hour.

There were no injuries and the theme park was scheduled to open on time Tuesday.

The fire started at 4:00 AM this morning. The fireworks were at 11:00 PM last night and were planned not accidental.

Looks like you missed the 2nd show while you were all tucked away in bed. ;)
