Did anyone see Watchdog last night as it supposedly featured a Disney Hotel where guests had been bitten by bedbugs(uuuurrggghh)......Sounds suspiciously like it might have been DLP to me, but cant find any info. Did anyone see it??? Was it a Florida Resort?? I would love to know and NO ONE seems to have seen it!!

Allie.

hi i also saw watchdog it was disneyworld florida not paris, they said at the begining that they had a realy bad time in disneyworld becouse of the bed bugs but didnt mention which hotel they had stayed in but it looked like they had booked through disney holidays but dont know for sure, the bites looked bad though susie :jester:

This looked horrible - I would be interested to know which hotel it was too...... :(

What I thought was bad was the fact that Disney said they would not offer any compensation.Niot a good relations move I would have thought.

There are a lot of biting insects in Florida, and many people can have a reaction to those bites ( I know because the mozzies LOVE me and I react to their bites). There are a number of questions that need to be answered.
1) Was it 100% certain that it was bedbugs that caused their bites?
2) did they only stay at a Disney hotel
3) how bad were the bites, I know they are unpleasant but it's unusual for anyone to be badly hurt from this.
4) did they complain while they were there? or did they wait until the end of the holiday or when they were home? If they told the hotel I can't believe the hotel would do nothing about it. Getting the room/bedding treated would get rid of the problem immediately.
5) If it was an on going problem, why did they continue to stay in the room? I can't believe anyone would put up with this type of problem for any length of time.

If Disney didn't offer compensation then I would be certain they feel either they were not informed, or that they dealt with the problem appropriately. Florida's climate means there are lots of insects, IMHO someone is hopeful if they expect compensation for getting bitten in anything other than exceptional and unusual circumstances.

I think if you pay the price for comfort, you should get it.I wouldn't like to take either side, having not even seen the program, but given the information Disney need to do some explaining.IMHO if Disney want to keep good customer relations they need to spell their side of the story out!

Although the 'spot' was brief, I think they did say that the family got bitten on their first night - and the photos were horrendous and all over their backs - and that Disney had actually admitted to having an isolated problem in 'that' resort, which was now dealt with.

Disney didn't offer compensation 'due to ongoin legal action' which might imply they don't want to set a precedent for any other 'victims' until all enquiries/ damage limitation excercises are completed.

Just my opinion based on what was said and how.

Does anyone know if bedbugs are actually visible to the human eye or are they similar to dust mites etc??

I know i will have to check my bedding now ;) Mind you i always check inside my bed since i found a spider lurking in there one evening!!
