Watch your e-mail - rumore that new pins are coming

I called yesterday just to check and see. Sadly, no pin for us. :sad2: The CM actually sounded surprised that there was nothing attached to either my or my husband's names. She seemed to be checking everything very thoroughy (even mentioned the pin we received last year). She also said though that "it's awfully early to be looking for a discount for October". I told her I knew of a few people who had reported booking for next fall (one person Nov/Dec) with a room discount pin and the CM sounded really surprised. :confused3 She verified that our info was correct in the system and just told me to keep checking back. :sad2:

What does seem a little odd to me is that there are people calling who have not received emails, but have discovered that they have pins. No one seems to be reporting much news of actually receiving pin emails (ie. like a batch of new pins has gone out). I wonder if these lucky ppl are just catching an old pin that they just weren't aware of and that the new pins are yet to come? Probably wishful thinking on my part ... but I can hope!

So the cost of your room (or rooms) is just under 10k?

Could easily be. Depends on the room type (view? club? suite?). Could be 2 rooms, extra family member "adults" in a room, etc. Most likely for 10 nights or more. I have been in OP's shoes before being that I've priced out 2 club level rooms at Beach Club for 10 nights at full price and it's not pretty! ;)

Yeah, I know there are options that cost that much. But for most people on here, even those who stay deluxe, 10k is a pretty shocking number for just the accommodations. So I'm not surprised that people would be asking about it.

just spoke to a CM over the phone... there were no pins under our names, but she said it was dropping any day now and that i should call back over the weekend to check. it kind of shocked me that she didn't go thru the "well it's very random" etc speech.... in not so many words she told me that they were all prepared for them to hit. it sounds kind of massive :) i like that.

everyone keep your smart phones handy and disney reservations on speed dial :)

hopefully there's a good enough deal for us. we're going to end up getting screwed since i'll have an AP (going in march w/ mom) and he won't---and we use the dining plan. i need to work some more numbers. if all else fails, i'll rent points at BLT.

Sorry for the newbie question...but how do you get PINS? Is it for return guests only, or is it something I can sign up for? We started trying to plan our trip the day after free dining ended, so I've got my fingers crossed for another deal for Sept!

You sign up to receive promotions from Disney and then hope you are one of the lucky ones.

Many have had luck by playing around on the website by saving trips, ordering the DVD, etc.

I have never gotten a pin and have been visiting on and off since 1994. We own DVC now so it doesn't really matter but it would be nice to just get one.

Nobody besides the Disney marketing folks really know how they decide who they are going to send special offers to. We went 4 times between 2005 and 2007 and never got a PIN offer. Then in the last year or two, they started sending them to me and I've received at least 4 or 5 since then.

I can only guess that they saw that we had been there several times, but it had been awhile since we visited, so they thought they could entice us to come back.

At rack rate, yes. But, it's a large family vacation, so we're sharing 2BR villa for 10 days. No way could we do that on our own. And, too, we've been hoping for a discount or PIN. We'll do it either way, but it would make it much more doable with a PIN.

Keep in mind, too, that we don't take annual vacations like many of the DISers here with their multiple trips to Disney. In our nearly 20 years of marriage, we've been to Disney 2x (the first was a Christmas gift to us) and all of our other "vacations" were trips back home to visit family. No way could we do a Dx vacation more than once every 15 or so years.

Thanks for the information! I did end up calling last night to see if we have any pin codes and we didn't, BUT the very nice man said to watch my email because with the first of the year they will have a big marketing promo???

BUT I have a question....we are already booked in May with the free dining. IF we would get a pin, can that be used with the free dining or is it one or the other?? I am not set on May but I would take the cheapest offer...keeping m fingers crossed!!

I received a pin for 10% off. If I make a reservation using this pin code, is there still a chance of receiving a better discounted pin? Hopefully 40%. A 2 BR villa for 5 nights came to $4848 and with 10% off it'll be $4363.

I'm thinking that if I use this pin it would jeopardise my chance of receiving a better code. Anyone have any idea please?

I was thinking this weekend might be a good time to check for pins, since it's the first of the year...I REALLY hope we all get something for the times we want to go...I hope I get something that covers the whole year, especially October! :thumbsup2 I'm going to order the planning DVD on Jan. 1, see if that triggers anything...or maybe I'll just go order it now! I always wait til the new year to order the newest planning DVD but I guess a few days won't make a difference? :confused3

You can only use one pin or discount code. If another code comes out that is less than your free dining discount, you can always switch to that.

I made a reservation today for july 2011. I didn't want to wait longer as I'm scared the villas will get all booked. I didn't use the 10% pin in hope of receiving a bigger discount. CS said they usually send pins for 30% for people making reservations at delux or villas. I have AAA for 15% but this discount doesn't open up the rooms that I want. I really hope I 'll get a bigger discount.:)

I called a couple of days ago and had 3 pins I had never gotten emailed about attached to my name. I am planning to book using one of them this weekend! I also got an email from Disney Rewards through Chase for kids stay and play free on a 4 night or longer trip on select dates. Too bad I don't have kids LOL!

I assume that "kids" means those 10 and under?

I have my fingers crossed for a pin; however I think I'm a little early as my trip is planned for the end of Nov 2011. A girl can dream though right:wizard:

Happy, Healthy & Safe New Year to all:grouphug:

Hello all...first time posting but I have been reading the boards for awhile.:cool2:

I received a snail mail card yesterday with a pin with discounts for 2/1/11-2/16/11. Unfortunately, not great rates and not for the dates we want. We usually go in Oct. for the F&WF. Hoping to get another military discount this year for a deluxe.

There's no telling. Lots of folks have reported getting multiple pins.

But I'm thinking that 10% is a lot lower than most discounts -- you might get a better deal using a AAA discount or an annual pass discount... either one of those would likely pay for the AP or AAA membership.

Why will you be screwed? If you get a room-only discount, you can add the dining plan as an AP holder without buying additional tickets. Of course, you'll have to pay for it.

You'll only get screwed if you get an offer for a package deal that must include tickets.

I'm hoping for a room-only AP discount myself! We don't use the DP.

One discount per reservation. They can't be stacked.

Yes. Child's ticket.
